i was saving this piece for last... the last piece in the body of work i have been chasing for the past 2 years called “the other” ...it’s lonely in the studio right now, with everyone gone for the holidays. i am sitting here in an empty space- surfaces wiped clean, tools put away, clay re-claimed and ready to be made into something new...
but i still find myself thinking of this piece, the secret keeper, struggling with all the weight of her regrets, straining against self-recrimination and crippling self-doubt... yet still inching forward. .. it is the truest self-portrait i have ever made. and although it may seem like a sad piece, i gave her all the beauty and strength and hope i could muster. ....
thank you everyone for the overwhelming support this past year (and all the past and future ones to come)!. #darkestdayoftheyear #youareneveralone
This is your chance.
i would like to introduce you to a young artist, shelsea dodd. @shelseadodd i think she is one of the most amazing young artists on the rise, and i am trying to help her raise the funds to work with us here @studio740 .
this is your chance...
because when i was early in my career and struggling for confidence, my voice, and any scrap of success, the smallest gestures were enough to push me forward. i sold my smallest studies for $50 to raise money for my studio rent.. and i can’t tell you how many of those small sales made a tremendous difference. i still hear from some folks lamenting that they didn’t grab one while i was still getting started. .
so! this is it! go follow her and lend your support! shelsea is making a small body of work to help raise money for her 2 year residency alongside all of us at @studio740 . ..... .
i can’t wait to see her story unfold....
.will you help?
follow the link in her profile! @shelseadodd
I have 24”x36” detail posters of “tangled up in you” available along with the 3 large scale 36”x55” poster designs to choose from!
these smaller posters fit in a standard frame from any big box store for easy and affordable framing! (this frame was $30) if you order in the next couple of days, we will do our best to ensure delivery by the holidays. link in profile! .....
thank you for your support; i’m still hoping to reach my goal of funding the book project!

Week 1: half-way funded for the book project!
thank you so much to everyone who has ordered a print so far! because of you we are halfway to our goal! i’ve been loving all the images from people who have received their prints!
.... if you have been on the fence or have pre-ordered a print but have not yet finalized your order, i hope you will do so this week to help me fund the book! ..... the shop is open to everyone, but if the other 2/3 of the pre-order folks follow through, we will have this book published by january…please help!
..... i know i’ve already said this, but after so long of working with a limited number of collectors with the resources to own my work in their private collections, it is so wonderful to finally be able to offer a piece of my world to all the folks who have cheered me on through the years! .... a lot of you have been asking about pricing and the like, so i wanted to share a little more information regarding the magnitude of this project. the whole print project has cost me over $30,000 out of pocket and has taken 4 months out of my studio practice. i embarked on such an endeavor because i need to raise $130,000 to be able to fund the book.
..... it’s a harrowing amount, but all the emails i am receiving back from excited fans are making me leap out of bed every day... i love it!
..... heaps of gratitude..... supermodel: @brooksoliver
The shop is open!!
it’s been a long process to get here, but i am really excited to have something available that is more affordable for all the wonderful people who have been fans and supporters throughout my career.
i selected the following 4 pieces of the most requested images, and have printed them as close to scale with the original works. each poster is printed on a conventional printing press using 4 color printing on uv gloss coated 8 point cover stock. as a bonus! proceeds from poster sales will help to fund a larger forthcoming book project that i am working on with fresco fine art books publishers and curator/author/critic garth clark.
please visit the link in my profile to place an order! i have only printed and signed a limit number, and i’m hoping to sell out quick to raise the funds for the book. wish me luck and help me spread the word!

Today is the last day.
my solo show, “the other," at the jason jacques gallery, will be closing at 3pm.
the 5 major works in this show represent a monumental effort spanning the last 2.5 years in the studio, and i am pleased that it has been an unprecedented success! i am pretty sure the attendance for this exhibition far exceeded any other...and it means a great deal to me that so many of you traveled far and wide to come.
if you haven't yet made it out to the gallery, this is the last chance too see these pieces before all the work comes down and is shipped off to private collections. please come out, and let me know what you think....your continued support and feedback is amazing and humbling. ..
