Alright what we’ve here is the jeep, some waters and mounts. foliage as well. also. there are rumors of a warm spring deep in the bushwhacking mania across the river from this overlook. roughly 3 miles into the forest, certainly not hot enough to enjoy, very unlikely to even be soakable. consider yourself informed. *update*
ok actually i just looked at google maps more. the warm spring looks pretty rad imho. it’s 7 miles from the overlook. 20 miles due west of mount drum. whomst lookin to get involved???
When we decided to make the 2019 alaska quest 2 and 1/2 months in duration we had this blind hope that we’d scope the northern lights aurora hype. sure enough we were hanging with some visiting squad at their air bnb in alyeska last weekish and i stepped outside at 2am after we rallied through our 5th harry potter episode of the day, and whammyyy. i saw some nocturnal activities i’d’nt ever seent previously. we scoped this stuff for an hour is so and i finally motivated to capture some digital stills. honestly v easy to capture because they were so bright and visible to the human ocular. it wasn’t until after this night that i began researching the science going on and the likelihood of seeing the aurora where we were at that time of year. basically we lucked out and will have 1-2 more opportunities before we head back to the mainland us of a. also, for you photogs, i’m a night photo stickler for white balance so i recruited the best in the biz @abbihearne to help me get these dialed.
Stoked to see our friend @aleta_ventures on @instagram ’s feed today! making me miss our desert fam even more, but these alaskan summer temps are hard to beat... scope @instagram to see some pics i took of aleta this past spring.
There’s certainly no way to convey the hype of this experience. but here’s some mad drone footy for the boiiissss and females. whomst ever really. also some sick accompanying tracks by @scottholmesmusic
Safety is at least somewhere in our top quarter of priorities. seemed safeish tho. definitely epiccccc. we spent prolly 6 hrs between yesterday and today watching and listening to this bad boiiii calving. this was at the very edge of a massive glacial field. “i’ve never been more willing to risk my safety for an experience than i was today” - abbi
did seem fairly safe tho imho
When we got the big jeep we kept saying how easy the trip to alaska would be this summer. we’ll have an entire apartment with us, full amenities, etc. turns out driving to alaska is still involved... we are in the middle of bc now. rocking wifi at an a&w. if this isn’t overlanding i’m out
Bois week is said and done. charlie and i had some nice times, some silly times, and some times. glad to have the fam back together and to be questing for alaska. here’s a gentleman whomst hit me with the mad invite to peep some falls and flail in a river. xoxo @es_dons
Welcome to the big jeep. boys only. at least till friday. @abbihearne come back... also, quick psa: check out my story highlight “bôÿsw33k” for the real inspiring content. giving the people what they want, since monday 2019
Happy belated bday to this kid @irumohr. i met his squad at glacier point during one of our photo shoots with @thehearnes. they recognized us from linkedin or something and isaac asked me to grab some photos of him for his bday. i agreed and the homie proceeds to charge onto the sketch diving board in true local fashion. our australian groom shouts “you wanna live to see your next birthday mate!” instant classic...
East side vibes with some new friends! @crystalhivestudios dropping into the couloir on her custom @praxisskis shred sticks. whilst the man @countstackulaaa sends a lil gap in the slush pow pow. thanks for showing me the ropes at mount mammoth national park.
