Hope everyone is enjoying their friday! i thought i’d go back to basics for day 17 of #callivember ... seemed appropriate as the prompt is ‘minimalistic.’ in the outtakes of this video i had to stop mid lettering and say “miiinnnniimmmallissstiiiccc” ‘cause i was so sure i had missed a letter 😝 i also wanted to keep the sound on as there was a few birds chirping in the background....but playing it back you could also hear me heavy breathing 😂 turns out i must do that when i concentrate! but anyway, here is the much more refined version ☺️
So this afternoon i was meant to be productive....but then i accidentally fell asleep on the couch watching jane the virgin. and by accident i mean i fully intended to 😝...anyone else enjoy sunday naps? or just naps in general? 🙋🏻♀️
I have been off the pens for a few days and boy does it show!! hate that feeling. been so busy i haven’t even joined a challenge yet! 😱
anyhoo i decided to letter this as i am obsessed over green and pink lately!! it keeps catching my eye everywhere i go. which is unusual because i’m not a big pink fan! 😝
also decided to give the crayolas a go. they have such pretty colours! 🎨
🎃 being australian, i don’t celebrate halloween. i think it is slowly getting bigger though. and if it means i have an excuse to eat lollies, then count me in!! i bought a packet of starburst just in case there is any trick or treaters but i’m secretly hoping there isn’t so i can eat them all 😂 happy halloween! 👻 ps. my american friends - what does candy corn taste like ??
🌵😎last day of #iamasuccaforpricks challenge!! i’ve combined a few days in one again. i obsessed over this one for hours...what to letter underneath it....i need to just let go and upload it....wait that’s it...”let it grow!” 😝 🎉
Could anything be more australian than ‘straya?!! probably not. it is an endearing way of pronouncing australia. that, and we can't articulate properly 😝
we are almost at the end of our #aussielingoletters challenge @rosaliehartdesign@thatlaconicletterer ...here’s my day 30. hope you like my cutesy ‘strayan animals!
Damn pesky mozzies and d**n pesky double z! 😭 i will admit i did not practice double z when we went through our drills....i thought to myself “when on earth will i use double z...” famous last words as they say. probably should have practiced as i’m regretting it now!
but anyway here is day 29 of #aussielingoletters with @rosaliehartdesign@thatlaconicletterer and myself @calligraflo
Day 27 of #aussielingoletters with @rosaliehartdesign@thatlaconicletterer and myself @calligraflo is “mate”
arguably most australians favourite word. an affectionate way to describe your friend or perhaps someone you don't even know. "g'day mate, how the bloody hell are ya?!" it also can be used sternly to warn someone they've crossed a fine line. "listen here, mate." 🤓
reminds me also of the seagulls in finding nemo...”mate, mate, mate” sounding more like “moiiiight” in our accent 😝
Day 25 of #aussielingoletters with @rosaliehartdesign@thatlaconicletterer and myself @calligraflo is “chuck a u-ey”
going through this challenge just reminds me how lazy us aussies speak 😂 everything has to be shortened or replaced in someway... “chuck a u-ey” is used to describe performing a u turn in the car. eg. "you've gone the wrong way, chuck a u-ey here"
Day 24 of #aussielingoletters with @rosaliehartdesign@thatlaconicletterer and myself @calligraflo is “true blue”
a "true blue" aussie is someone patriotic, loyal, genuine.
funnily enough @jenniwren_made i think of john williamson too!! not so much the song but the the” stop dengue now ay” tv ad...couldn’t be more aussie if he tried! 😂
also this tombow was frayed but i’ve become more fond of them than i originally was!
Day 23 of the #aussielingoletters challenge with @rosaliehartdesigns@thatlaconicletterer and me @calligraflo is “sticky beak”
a person that is nosey. "our neighbours are such sticky beaks!" alternatively it can be used to tell someone to have a look., appropriate timing for me as we went away for the weekend and our friends live close by to where we visited. they just newly renovated their house so of course we invited ourselves over to sticky beak! oh and to see them i guess 😝
thought i’d give #fauxligraphy a go!
might need to practice more!!
☀️ this weekend we headed up to port douglas as chris was doing a 42km run (freak i know). i had planned to wait patiently on the beach while he ran...turns out i was too invested in the beach and drawing i missed the finish 😆
