Breaking! 🏳️🌈 california becomes first state to offer a third, non-binary gender category on california state-issued ids, birth certificates and driver’s licenses.
“while oregon and washington d.c. have undergone steps to make it easier for citizens to legally identify as non-binary, california is the first to enshrine a third gender category into law.”
as a company that flies the rainbow flag all year around in support of lgbtqia freedom, we commend this symbolic step in the fight for gender inclusivity.

Six ingredients, a p*t & a blender...a love story.

1950: dr. bronner lectures in pershing square, exhorting all to unite as one.
he sells his peppermint soap on the side, but realizes many are taking the soap & leaving—so he prints the lecture on the label!
"may our rights, sovereignty, wealth, dignity, pride and health be forever restored.
and may generations to come remember the many injustices we have suffered as our names, homes, families, land, food, freedom were stolen, and the lies that were told."
How to wash your little ones with dr. bronner’s!
apply a few drops of baby unscented pure-castile liquid soap to a wet washcloth.
this dilutes the soap so it's more gentle & less wasteful—and it'll also help you avoid baby's eyes, as our soaps are not tear free. (the "tear free" characteristic requires synthetic non-soap detergents, which we do not use, given the all-natural formulation of our soaps.)
use a cup of water to easily rinse the soap. then snuggle baby until dry.

Waste not! after extracting organic coconut oil at our fair-trade sri lankan sister company, serendipol, workers put the remaining coconut byproducts to good use:
• coconut husks are sold & processed into fiber for rope, doormats & erosion control
• shells are burned for energy in our boiler or sold to produce charcoal & activated carbon
• seed cake is sold for animal feed & food
• some coconut water is sold to a local exporter
• the balance is treated biologically & used for irrigation in the company’s garden.

What's the difference between our organic white & whole kernel coconut oil?
the organic white kernel vco is made from the coconut kernel after the parings have been removed, and the organic whole kernel vco is made from the whole coconut kernel, with the brown inner skin left on.
as a result, our whole kernel vco has a slightly nuttier taste, tends to be a bit more fragrant, and has a slight yellow tint caused by carotenoids in the parings.
however, both oils are certified organic & fair trade, and are equivalent in their culinary and body care uses!
