"i want to talk a little bit about the beautiful cover of my book, designed by the fine people at @plume_books@duttonbooks. when my publisher and i first started talking about the design, i was like, you know, make it look punk rock, edgy, blah blah blah. but when they showed me this concept, it was a curve ball but i loved it. and the reason is that it looks accessible and inviting and fun, which are all the things i want the conscious closet to be. as much as the conscious fashion movement is growing, information about it exists in a bubble (writing the book almost entirely outside of nyc reminded me of that). many people are intimidated to take this journey — they feel judged and overwhelmed before they even start. i aimed to put all the life-changing things i’ve learned along the way into a format that many, many people from all walks of life can benefit from and enjoy. and i think the cover captures that sentiment perfectly. thanks to @plume_books for making it happen. also, keep spreading the word about pre-orders please! 🙏 💜 💜 💜 #theconsciousclosetbook#plumebooks#consciousfashion#bookdesign#consciousstyle#ethicalfashion#consciousfashion#mindfulclothing #slowfashionstyle"

“women are judged whatever choice they make about children. too many and you’re selfish—not enough time for each kid! just one and you’re selfish—children need siblings to thrive! none and you’re selfish—why don’t you care about children?” —@a.maria.blackstone, childfree by choice

@kirkus_reviews says #1 new york times bestselling @authormelissadelacruz “contrasts the glamorous but vacuous world of the back-stabbing elite with gritty but often sweet memories of ellie’s impoverished youth… scandalous and bittersweet, our heroine’s charmed life seems to teeter on designer stilettos as she gets closer to the truth of who she really is.”

june 4th (this tuesday!) is going to be a magical day in the publishing world. it’s magical for me, because my book is coming out. but it’s also magical, because two women whom i love and admire with all my heart also have books coming out that very same day! the three of us are book triplets! my friend @jenpastiloff’s gritty, passionate memoir on being human is about to be born. my friend @sherisalata’s searching, inspiring memoir the beautiful no is about to be born. both are exquisite books written by superb human beings. the voices are different, and journeys that each woman faced are different… but the message in both books is the same: women, you have to create your own life in this world. you just have to. when you try to live by other people’s codes, it just doesn’t work. (actually, that’s the message of my book, too. i sense a theme.) jen: thank you for your harrowing vulnerability and your badass candor. on the other hand, sheri: thank you for your badass vulnerability and your harrowing candor. my book is so proud to share a birthday with both of yours. it’s an honor to know and love you both. thank you for opening your hearts on the page. i love you. #onbeinghuman#thebeautifulno
