Walking home is never not enjoyable in amsterdam. i much prefer to walk than to cycle, i get to see so much more and don’t have the stress of trying to avoid every tourist that just steps out into the road without looking. sometimes easing stress can be by making little adjustments to your life. what don’t you like, what causes you stress, is there a way you can look at if differently or do something differently. it’s almost like we have to tell people we are stressed these days other wise we are not normal. but the amount of stress in todays life is not normal. everyone is ‘burnout’ but no one seems to really understand how to avoid or heal from it. so take a walk, take some deep breaths, enjoy nature a little and worry less about the things you cannot control or make a plan to change your life a little. yes walking takes me longer to get places but what’s wrong with that?? i like it that way.. #stoprushing #lessismore #momentsofmine

Happy to get some rain in amsterdam this last week. the plants are looking a lot healthier. always an idea to have a good raincoat with you though! have a read of my latest blog post, link in bio 👆🏻, about this lovely danish rainwear company @scandinavianedition . don’t get caught in the rain and get soaked like my friend @tati_hacmon did yesterday! ☺️🌧 . i chose an olive green colour to suit my hair. what do you think?? have a look at @scandinavianedition ‘s page for more of their simplistic but stylish styles! #raincoat #rainwear #amsterdam

Facial acupuncture has been in the news quite a lot recently. many celebs have been posting on their social media about their facial acupuncture sessions. have you tried it yet? my facial acupuncture sessions in the lovely setting of @c.cosmeticsandcare also include gua sha, facial cupping, jade roller, head and face massage. i use only very natural plant based products during my sessions. facial acupuncture can help reduce stress, headeaches and migraines, improve lymph function and boost circulation as well as many other things. if you are interested to try it send me a dm! #facialacupuncture #cosmeticacupuncture #acupuncture #tcm #jaderoller #guasha #facialcupping 🌿💚✨

🌦 it’s been raining most of the day on or off but i managed to catch a little afternoon sun while taking a healthy snack break on the new outdoor benches at @juicebynature . my raincoat from @scandinavianedition is a must have today with all these rain showers that appear out of nowhere. check out my latest blog post about then via the link in my bio 👆🏻. it’s got a hood hidden away in the collar and comes down to mid shin to keep me nice and dry! it also has some cool reflectors that you can unbutton for when walking around at night time! safety first! especially with all these bikes and scooters wizzing everywhere. ☔️✨🌿#fridayvibes #juicebynature #scandinavianedition #raincoat #rainwear

Recently i’ve been adding more mindfulness practice into my life. it helps me to focus on the important things in life and forget the things that are not. the last couple of months i have been especially aware of the amount of plastic and rubbish that i consume or produce. thinking about small changes that could make a big impact on reducing my waste. replacing my personal products with ones that come in sustainable or reusable containers such as paper or glass. moving away from items stored in plastic. it seems like a slow process but i do feel i am getting somewhere. there are still things i wish to buy in order to help with the process but i will get them gradually rather than all at once. at least it’s easier to say to people ‘i don’t want a plastic....’ and it feels normal. also as i have been wearing a lot more natural clothing and i’ve noticed that when i do wear something that it synthetic i am aware of being warmer and that my skin in unable to breathe or cool me down as effectively. so here’s to more natural things in my home and less plastic. the work continues.... ✨🌿💚

Trying to navigate the world of slow fashion and green beauty can be draining at times. trying to find the authentic brands rather than those who are just #greenwashing can be difficult. there now seems to be so many #sustainablefashion brands and #greenbeauty brands that it’s hard to somtimes find the unique brands who have created their own style or those who have created products different from others. these are the companies i seek out. they are often one person run (usually female) brands who i enjoy connecting with personally as well as enjoying their products. something different always catches my eye and makes me want to find out more. but sometimes it’s like finding a needle in a haystack and you feel like why are you bothering. but then you find something new and inspiring, a different story and it makes up for it. 🌿✨#wednesdayweighin #foodforthought #slowfashionmovement #greenbeautyrevolution

Amsterdam is full of these cute courtyards and gardens. because of the tall canal houses they provide a bit of shelter from the heat this time of year. they are also surprisingly full of wildlife, while sitting here i was joined by a hungry wasp and a mother blackbird feeding her baby. there is always something new to see in amsterdam, even in the streets you think you know well and walk every day! #amsterdam #thedylan #secretgardens

🌿 we are slowly becoming more concerned with what we put on our skin beauty wise but not many stop to think about what they are putting next to their skin. synthetic materials as well as being harmful to the environment are also harmful to the skin and body. they can cause issues such as irritation, flare-ups of skin conditions such as eczema, increased bacteria and thrush due to the less-breathable material or air flow restriction and much more. also most of the dyes used in clothing are also full of chemicals which can leech into your skin when being worn (especially items like underwear or activewear) . so, if you have been more mindful of your beauty regime, maybe it’s time to pay a bit of attention to the clothing you are wearing or purchasing. #lesstoxins #buynaturalproducts #sustainablefashion

Yesterday’s pride parade was very fun. as it finishes in my neighborhood i don’t really have a choice whether to experience it or not. the #noordermarkt was extra quite this week because of this and a few of my favorite stalls were not around. but it was so nice to see everyone just happy, smiling and having fun. no drama, no fights and a general safe feeling during the day and evening. but the one thing i dislike about it all is the plastic waste and trash left behind afterwards. most of the bars and pubs were serving drinks in disposable plastic cups which everyone would just throw on the floor or in the canal when finished. glitter and plastic confetti everywhere also. i feel there is a lot needed to be done to make these kind of events less harmful to the environment. amsterdam is such a pretty city and we should look after it better. all the birds nests i saw this year had parts of them made out of plastic litter. and i’m sure they all mistakenly eat the confetti and glitter thinking it’s food. can we have a plastic free pride next year? let’s also have pride for the environment and nature as well as each other. ♻️ 🌈 #prideamsterdam #plasticfree #plasticwaste #singleuseplastic

Last night i watched ‘the bleeding edge’ documentary which is new on netflix. as i have over 10 years of working within the hospital/medical industry it was an interesting watch. it basically explains the process (or lack of) for medical devices to become fda approved for human use. some of the devices discussed were ones i had come into contact while working in this field. however, i was shocked to find out what little testing had been done prior to these products being used. the medical device system is just as money making as the drug/pharma industry but with maybe even more devastating results on peoples quality of life or even life itself! we all have to remind ourselves to do proper in-depth research prior to having any kind of medical device fitted and don’t just accept the advice of one medical professional. dig deep, question everything, assist family members/friends who are unable to do so themselves, read journals if you can, read forums of other peoples experiences, look at the stats. also, did you know that doctors are not legally required to report issues with medical devices to the manufacturer??! it’s done by choice, which basically means done very little. so the actual number of issues are not known. if you have netflix have a watch, as with any program their are bias perhaps but knowledge is power and making well researched and thought out decisions about our health is a must! new technology is not always best! #rantover #openyoureyes #educateyourself
