“it can be quite a chore getting your friends to go and see the beautiful landscapes that are within scotland. so when i have friends coming over from other countries who want to explore i always try and take them to the most stunning areas of the country. for this trip i chose skye and the neist point lighthouse. although quite a busy spot now, there is plenty of room for everyone, the classic shot of the lighthouse peeking through the right of the huge cliff face is iconic.
what stood out about this location is the amount of nature that’s present, from new baby lambs with their mothers, rabbits, seabirds on the cliff face and i even managed to snap a photo of some seals while we were taking in the views on the amazing rock formation just past the lighthouse.
you could honestly spend a whole day here rather than a few hours.” @michaelchunter
"the first time i saw a highland cow was as a small boy on a family holiday to skye, i can’t resist photographing them whenever i make the trip up north to the highlands now. this large cow stood proud on a small mound and it was too good a opportunity to miss so lying on the ground just in front of it i shot this low angle view, not sure that’s a wise idea or not!" @_dantucker#hiddenscotland
"i like to always look around for different photographic opportunities. when we headed to glenfinnan the plan was too shoot the train on the viaduct, and even though i knew the sun’s position i didn’t realise the hill is going to cast a big shadow over the viaduct. like that wouldn’t be enough it turned out that the train had a different locomotive and obviously there was almost no steam at all. and this is what we wanted isn’t it? capturing the beautiful jacobite steaming on the viaduct.
well, disappointed or not i had to find something and i looked around over the loch and i saw the light still hitting the peaks on the left. rushed on that small beach behind the glenfinnan monument and saw that boat coming towards us, got the drone up and managed to snap a few shots before the light faded away over the hills." @raulcaramizaru#hiddenscotland
"dunrobin castle stands tall on the edge of the north highland coast surrounded by gardens overlooking the sea. the place can feel a little eery, as if it doesn't quite fit in the landscape. as if the dark history of the highland clearances lingers on. but every place has a past - good, bad and ugly. i was just glad to finally fulfill my 8 year old self's dream to sit under that tree and pretend i was the owner of a castle for an afternoon." @hannahketts#hiddenscotland
"walking, walking, walking...we were half way through the famous ‘west highland way’. our campsite that night would be somewhere in the wild. we were almost at glencoe when i saw a rock with an incredible view! so i asked to my dad if he would like to take a picture of me. i fixed the setting first and gave it to him. thanks to my dad the picture has amazing bokeh raindrops" @juriancuypers#hiddenscotland
