It’s okay to say no. this is something that i’ve learnt the hard way. i piled so much on my plate before the wedding that i was approaching burn out. i could have said no to half of that stuff but i didn’t. i made time for it and no time for me. the turning point came on our mini-moon when i had to tell ross what to do if i blacked out. it was then i realised that i need to start saying no. saying no to things that i don’t really want to do. saying to no when i’ve said yes too many times. and saying no when i just need some time for me. it’s okay to say no 💛
I had hoped to be sharing a pin stock update today but fedex kindly didn’t turn up so that went out the window 😒 so instead i’m re-sharing one of my favourite challenge photos! why? because i’m working on a small series of blog posts for #meetthemakerweek and want to know what you guys would like to read about! so far i’ve drafted what the challenge is about and how to take part. how i choose my fave 4 for each day of the challenge and what i look for when choosing images. i also have a photography one planned but would love your input on what would help you! 💛 i can’t believe it’s sneaking up on us for the third year running! will you take part?
I’m back! did you miss me? it was tough to have a break from instagram and fully relax but my goodness it was needed. just in case you didn’t know, i took some time off to marry my favourite human! however, normal service shall now resume and the mega catch up session begins! 😩 this has to be the worst bit of taking time off right? that’s why i don’t do it often 🙈 this gorgeous portrait was given to me from my old school friend @emmelinedraws and i may have cried when i opened it! thanks emm! 💛 so, what did i miss whilst i was away? what’s new with you guys?
We did the thing on saturday! i’ve now got a lovely husband! that’s going to get some getting used to saying! we had such an amazing day, and i got to marry my best friend @iamrossthompson. i’ve never felt so much love from so many lovely people 💛 the day was full of face ache from smiling so much, hilarious stories, catching up with friends and family, crazy dancing, the odd mosh pit and even a bit of climbing from the rafters... needless to say i won’t be forgetting it anytime soon! 💛 we’re now chilling out on the cornish coast for a little bit and trying our best to ignore work emails and get over the post wedding blues! i can’t wait to see the official photos! 💛
Just a quick reminder to take a break every once in a while. you may not think you need it but i’m sure it will do you good.
on monday i ended up feeling really anxious about all the work i’m not going to be able to do next week, and started telling ross about all the things i was going to do in the car on the way to cornwall. he was like ‘errr... no you’re not...’ i mentioned this to another friend and she said ‘what’s the worst that’s going to happen if you don’t do it?’ and the answer? nothing. nothing is going to happen. my shop isn’t going to suddenly drop off the face of the earth and my list isn’t about to get ten times longer. so it’s okay to have a break. honestly. take one. even if it’s just an evening or a day off. you probably need it 💛 what’s the worst that can happen?
Thank you so much for all of your kind comments on my post last week asking if you’d like see a blog post about my wedding. i was absolutely blown away by your response! it looks like i’ll be putting together a post for you guys!
in other news, i reshot my gift wrap last week! this was the third time i’ve done it and this is most happy i’ve ever been with it! it’s so much cosier than my previous pictures. don’t worry, i’m not going to start spamming you with christmas stuff. i’m already grumpy that it’s all in the shops! how many of you have started buying for it already?...
I haven’t talked about it much over on the grid, because i didn’t want to be that annoying person who talks about it non stop! but a week tomorrow i will be getting married! it’s exciting and terrifying in equal measures but i’m sure it’s going to be a brilliant day! i know some of you have asked via various stories if you can see photos, so i was wondering if you’d like to see a blog post with various bits and bobs when it’s over, with bit of focus on bits i’ve got from small and independent businesses? like this flag i asked the amazing @janekent_studio to make for our cake topper! i had an idea and she brought it to life 💛 i blimmin’ love makers! so yeah, post or no post? 👰🏻
Apparently this week is ‘thinking of you week’. and i don’t know about you guys but i love sending surprise post! it could be something as simple as a card just to say ‘i’m thinking of you’ or because i saw it and instantly thought of someone! it’s crazy how much impact a folded piece of paper can have on someone else’s day! what was the last card you sent?
Sometimes, simply making a start on something is the hardest thing, but once you get over the getting started hurdle, everything usually falls into place.
i’ve really found this with my screen printing area set up /pinterest project. everything about it so far hasn’t gone entirely to plan but i’m going to keep going because every small step gets me one step closer to the end result! even if it has been months in the making.
so for this monday/week ahead, what are you going to make a start on? no matter how small. it all counts 💛
Yesterday, i popped down to devon with my insta wife @stitchsperation to attend creatival, organised by the incredible helen of @thecbnteam! it was a day full of talks from inspiring people including leona from @luckydipclub and lucy and chris from @lucyandyak! on taking part in @georgiadelotz photography workshop i realised i need to potentially move my photography area too. needless to say i had an brilliant day hanging out with brilliant makers! ooo! and i got to see the bags i designed for the event in real life too! 💛 swipe to see my grinning face with two bags that i pinched for a photo, what d’ya think? obvs yellow! 💛
Tomorrow, i’m off to creatival and for some reason i’m feeling quite nervous! i don’t know if it’s because there will be loads of makers there that i admire, or my car being naughty or because i currently look like frida kahlo and i’m not allowed to do anything about it. either way, it’s going to be an amazing day full of creativity i’m sure! whilst i’m here, i was wondering if i could get your opinion on these frames? i was thinking of offering them as an add on to my prints. is it something you’d consider? do you like this style?
Guess what! i broke routine and didn’t post yesterday and the moon didn’t fall out of the sky, you guys didn’t run away and quite frankly no one cared! i had a busy weekend walking alpacas for my hen party and hanging out with friends so didn’t prep anything for monday. i made the second image and felt it wasn’t quite right so just didn’t do it. usually i would stress all night about it but this time i just thought nahhhh, which is very unusual for me! so basically, what i’m saying is that, if you don’t post, it’s not the end of the world. anyone else feel like they have to stick to a posting routine?
