Watching new icebergs being born is always an interesting feeling. it's exciting to watch them calving and realise you're watching something that will never happen in the same way again. they're all such beautiful, unique pieces of art. but sometimes it's a little sad to realise you're watching the glacier begin its final journey towards the diamond beach where eventually, it returns back into water after over 1,000 years as glacier ice.

❄💧for those ice nerds among us, the ice caves are always a fascinating place to explore when the temperature hovers around freezing. streams and meltwater freeze into the coolest, irregular patterns. it's nice to compare them to the strong silence of the glacier.

Icelanders don't formally celebrate valentine's day, instead we celebrate our men and our women on different days. but love is international and we're happy to celebrate with you today!

Living in iceland you learn not to let the dark stop you - instead rug up in a cosy wool sweater and always carry a head torch! we're really glad the light is returning though, it's nice to go and scrape the ice off the trucks with a bit of sun. 🚗🔦
