Ad/werbung πŸ“–πŸ“š on cold winter days a warm blanket, hot tea and a good book are my best companions (besides painting of course). even better it gets with a selfmade bookmark.
if you want to know how i make them, you can check out the diy tutorial i made for #diynachten advent calendar @flow_magazin . you can find it on their igtv.
unfortunately i'm talking in german there because it's for the german @flow_magazin but maybe you understand it anyways (or maybe you are curious how i sound in my native language πŸ˜‰) do you like to read yourself or what is your favourite activity on cold winter days?

@nasibarra
Los vendes también??
@iraville
@jen_we ja, ich fixiere sie am ende mit einem mattem fixierspeay für mixed media ☺
@iraville
@beckichu_illustrations i fixed it in the end with a matt varnish spray for mixed media. and tips for crisp shapes...hmm...a watercolor paper that can handle much water and many layers, a round synthetic watercolor brush with a pointy tip, mix colors with a lot of water and paint with lot of water and of course a steady hand and a bit practice πŸ˜‰ hope that helps a bit ☺

@iraville "watercolor paper that can handle much water" you've probably been asked this a million times but i couldn't find it anywhere: which paper do you use? and how long do you let a part of a painting dry before you go on with the next layer?
@iraville
@jetsinspace i use lots of diffrent papers but i love cotton papers. and i dont know how long i wait, it depends how much water you use and how warm the surrounding is. i normally do something inbetween but if i am impatient i use a hairdryer to speed it up
@brookelangeinspired
Ive long thought this, but we are such kindred spirits @iraville. like you, i love cold weather, autumn, cosy clothing, art, (doing it and looking at it) reading and writing. in this case you are luckier than me....actually, in every case you are luckier than me i think, but in the weather, you definitely are because you live in a cool climate and here in australia, i unfortunately do not. but we also seem to love the same books. i’m a huge murakami fan. what book is that you are reading? and have you read killing commendatore yet??? you just must. it is excellent and i think it would really appeal to you in the same way it did me, because i actually wanted to live the protagonists lifestyle. you should read kafka on the shore also if you haven’t already. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Wonderful video, i was just about to watch it again but it seems to have disappeared from flowmags igtv, is there anywhere else i can watch this?

@beckichu_illustrations
@jetsinspace i know you didn’t ask me, but i’ve been using different papers and i have this really high quality paper but it’s smooth and i hate the way paint looks on it. for me i prefer paper with texture i think it makes a big difference in how the paint looks and dries ☺️
@sunlightandsage_
Hahaha i love the cat one!!
@jetsinspace
@beckichu_illustrations yes, you are right, there is a big difference. and the quality of the colour adds another difference too. i think i am going to try cotton paper because i also work with many layers or at least i would like to, but haven't found the right paper yet. i think i prefer paper without much texture for my text drawings but more soft paper for watercolour paintings.
@beckichu_illustrations
@jetsinspace yes totally agree, i’ve been using daniel smith paints which are beautiful but the smooth paper just doesn’t capture it like the textured paper does
@daile____aubrey
