Things are not always as warm and fuzzy as they appear in alessio de vecchi’s (@alessiodevecchi ) computer-generated world.
most of the 3d artist and director’s recent productions are introspective investigations. “themes like loneliness, depression and mental illness in general are quite persistent in my work, although mostly tackled with a bit of irony and somewhat ‘undercover,’” explains alessio. “there’s also room for occasional bright and fuzzy feelings. i guess my videos reflect my mood swings quite accurately.
this piece is part of an ongoing series. it investigates the will to regain physical and mental space, but also the necessity of exploring the recesses of the self. the furry worm is wandering. he’s bright in color, but we can’t tell what his mood might be. it’s not given to know if he’s lost or in control of the exploration.
my days are, in many ways, pretty monotone. i wake up and i sit in front of my screens and that’s pretty much all i see for most of the day. my productions are my windows towards possible worlds and those worlds might as well contain a surreal element that allows me to escape the grip of the real and the concrete jungle outside.”
