Last night we had a great time watching hr-big band in frankfurt’s neu altstadt. it was a celebration of the opening of the renovated old city with thousands of people in attendance. a good way to get involved with the community!
The römer and the goldener schwan buildings. these are buildings that have served as the city hall (rathaus) for the city of frankfurt since the 1500’s! it was a fun night exploring this interesting city!
Well we are off! so much excitement! thank you to all those who have sent us well wishes and supported us along the way! i start rehearsals with @oper_frankfurt the day i arrive. stay tuned for more updates as we commence our european adventure together!
Backstage having fun with our head mech brenton brooker during the interval of show #15 of opera australia’s madame butterfly at newcastle’s civic theatre. it has been great forming friendships with the cast and crew. there is never a dull moment on tour!
Well we are off! the opera australia regional tour of madame butterfly has well and truly begun! friday and saturday night we performed to a packed drum theatre in dandenong. i am looking forward to performing the quirky goro in a further 31 performances throughout regional victoria, new south wales and tasmania!

it is hard to believe that in just less than three months i will be relocating to frankfurt to begin my journey as a member of the oper frankfurt opernstudio!
over the past few months i have applied for a number of scholarships and grants to support my relocation. i am very humbled to have recently been the recipient of the 2018 brian boak outstanding performer bursary. this bursary was awarded by the empire theatres foundation, which supports young people to achieve their goals in the performing arts, from the beginning of their learning to nurturing professional practice.
i would like to thank the empire theatres foundation for supporting me through such an important moment in my professional and artistic development.

as many of you are aware, i have recently been offered a contract for opera frankfurt’s opera studio in september. this is a truly wonderful opportunity and my step towards an international career! understandably the costs of relocating to another country and living for a year are substantial and so i am seeking financial support for my travel, relocation and living costs in frankfurt throughout my participation in this program. if you wish to support me in this way, i have created an australian cultural fund fundraising project through which you can make tax deductible donations for donations over $2. you can click on the link below for more information. your donation would be greatly appreciated.
thank you for supporting this exciting stage in my career! as soon as i touch down in europe i will be providing updates as often as i can! https://australianculturalfund.org.au/projects/michaels-opera-frankfurt-adventure/
