So good to be back in rwanda, cooking and dancing with these legends! best evening in a long time with olive, family and friends. great food, great company and my dubious dancing; what more could you ask for in life?! #rwanda#kigali#love#life#food#friends#onearmedchef
In the morning the nijo market traders steam king crab legs ready for sending across japan. if you get there early enough and give them a charming smile (or confuse them with your three words of japanese) they might let you watch and learn and then ask you to share their breakfast with them.l 🦀 ☕️ the freshest, tastiest crab i’ve ever had (and fist time i’ve had it for breakfast!). 🇯🇵 #sapporo#sapporofishmarket#hokkaido#japan#market#crab#kingcrab#breakfastofchampions
This is most precious cook book i have!
as a teenager my mum was evacuated and ended up a servant in a stately home. it was the late 1930’s and she found herself as the kitchen assistant. an east london girl, i remember her telling me her first job was to skin a rabbit, she’d never even see one! 😳
growing up food was a huge part of our family life. though sadly as a child i never cooked with her, i was interested in other things! my mother left a long time ago, but she left me this gift, a cook book she wrote, and in it, every recipe i remember as a child. it’s my link to her, and a link to the food of a past generation. a time of suet puddings, kedgeree and yes spotted dick/roly-polly pudding - my childhood favourite 🤗 over the coming weeks i’m going to go back through some of these recipes, research them and learn to cook them. food is so connected to our stories, our memories and through food we stay close to those who went before 💕 #foodstories#tradition#familystories#familyreceipe#familytradition#mothersknowbest
