To help your pets navigate this holiday season safely, here are a handful of precautions to keep in mind.
the holiday trappings -
tinsel, wrapping paper, ribbons, pine needles, electric cords, and strands of lights are attractive to pets. please try not to leave your pet unattended around these temptations. these foreign objects wreak havoc in their gut.
hidden poisons -
poinsettias, mistletoe, chocolate and additives placed in the water for your fresh christmas tree are toxic to cats and dogs. .
the holiday feast -
as you gather around the holiday table - a table filled with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and aunt edna's famous three been salad - it is hard to resist that little wimper, cocked head, large brown eyes and raised paw. table scraps are a leading cause of gastrointestinal upsets.
electrical cords -
finally, with new power lines running across carpets and floors, a pet's curiosity is aroused, especially when those cords lead to blinking, attractive lights. hide cords or place them out of reach of your curious pet.
have a safe and happy holiday!

Stress might be one of the biggest holiday "s" words, besides "santa". •
many experts say our feelings, thoughts and actions during the holiday season are driven by hormonal changes that might be more extreme than at any other time of the year.
the simultaneous indulgence of sugar, impulse buys and family feuds -- all of which know no boundaries -- can give "it's beginning to look a lot like christmas," a whole new meaning.
