This is cusco, peru, a 3000 year old monument purely made out of stones. there are no clues about how they carved or cut these huge stones. what is important is that they left us great monuments to wonder for ages.
Our collections staff have been diligently cataloguing our artifact collection, and they've really hit their rhythm! 🥁🥁🥁here, collections assistant janna singer-baefsky catalogs a drum used in the american civil war by company f of the 56th regiment ny volunteers, also known as the 10th legion. the drum is in great condition and was an exciting find for the collections staff, one of many uncovered through bhs's revealing long island history project, generously supported by the robert d.l. gardiner foundation! explore more of our art and artifacts collection online via the link in our bio, and stay tuned as we add more objects!

thirty-two (32) sets of remains were uncovered at the el chorro archaeological site in pomalca, lambayeque, peru in 2018. twenty-three (23) of these graves date back to the moche culture (1 ce to 800 ce), while the remaining 9 graves date back to the lambayeque culture (750 ce to 1375 ce). several sets of remains were discovered to be missing some or all bones found in the feet, fifteen (15) of which are of mochica children and adolescents. the practice of removing feet bones was not uncommon for pre-hispanic cultures, as they would use these bones to create jewelry, often lockets, for surviving relatives to wear in memory or honor of a loved one.
found along side the bodies, researchers unearthed sixty (60) large urns which contained the remains of alpacas, guinea pigs, and llamas. metals, several tumis (a ceremonial knife), and spoons made of bone were also recovered.

The partial cranium of an adult male (pa sk 4009) from the ludgate hill collection (1500-1800) at the natural history museum london. here we see pathological changes congruent with tertiary syphilis. this diseases can cause extensive damage to the skull, and as seen here, has given the skull a “moth-eaten appearance.”

See what could be found on google map? but wait a minute..... could something be hidding behind the snow and ice in antarctica? is this gorrila face real? were some ancient civilization once thrive there? a couple of years ago a pyramid was also found there. or all of these findings are kind of paridolia? have your say....
