Here’s a question: should you compare your work to the works of others? 🤔 my answer is: yes and no.
✅yes: when you want to see what parts of your work should be improved to bring it to the new level of quality. when you want to learn from others!
⛔️nonono: to punish yourself for not being perfect or liked, or able to do something. the negative comparison will only lead you to not enjoying the process and you will stop creating altogether.
yes, your work is not perfect, and it may not be adored by thousands of people, but everyone needs to learn and make mistakes. the right way to compare your work would be to compare it with your own several weeks, months, years ago. do you see the progress? then you’re on the right path. just think where you can get in another week, month, year!
"don't wait until you know who you are to get started." quote from @austinkleon in his book steal like an artist. it was one of my first motivational books i read when i was ready to take the plunge back into art after a really long break. it's still one of my favorites to refer back to and it's what i'm using this month as a guide in my "big concept" lesson for true colors. in addition to teaching the foundation of art making, my main goal in my online program is to help artists discover their own voice, or their own "true colors" and i do that by introducing fear busting lessons, exploring all types of art making concepts, and guiding them to connect the similarities of their own work and life together until what they are passionate about comes through. it's a pretty amazing membership program and the artists have captured my heart. come see for yourself why hundreds of artists have already taken the plunge in this truly one of a kind online art experience. link in profile or www.kelleewynnestudios.com
Hey, eye 👁,
i bet you thought i forgot you.
today‘s lesson says:
3 and 3 is 6, not 33
let‘s do some counting:
1, 2, 3 ... 4, 5 and 6 flowers 💐
from the garden of my heart.
you see 👁?
i started a series of paintings where i talk to the „all seeing eye 👁 „
maybe, instead of failing badly at breaking humanity for thousands of years - as i learned from you tube - the „eye“ might be willing to not only see, but to learn and evolve from parasitic to constructive. i propose some homework or some exercises as a part of „lessons in love“. maybe there is hope for us, i mean, the „eye“. (yes, how naive of me) #hiddeninplainsight .

yesterday i posted a pic of a rotted cherry block with gaps. today i have pics of the following: i filled the gaps with resin by making a mould to the exact size, poured in the resin, placed it in a pressure chamber to remove bubbles, and cut it from the mould. the last two pics show the block ready to be used, and the original pic from yesterday.
now to decide what to do with it!
