I hear all the time from mom’s that they’re too busy for fitness, healthy meals, or “me time”. those same moms are the ones telling me that they feel terrible, hate the way their clothes fit, or don’t like what they see in the mirror. 🤷🏼♀️ 💖 i love this quote because i feel like we are all trying to hard to fit the perfect pinterest mom description, but we are letting our physical and mental health suffer for expectations that are not realistic or even necessary. 💕the truth is, our kids don’t care if we have the latest farmhouse kitchen decor, the toys are all organized by theme and color, or we have all the latest autism therapy techniques mastered. what they truly care about most is that we are happy and healthy. 👩👧👦 think about it this way… if your child was miserable every day because they hated the way they looked, felt terrible, or couldn’t keep up with their friends on the playground, would you really care if their clothes matched or their room was clean? no. what you care about most is that they’re happy and healthy, and the clean room or chores could wait. 🏃🏼♀️now imagine how their sweet, innocent little hearts feel about you, their mama, who they love more than anything. if you are truly unhappy in your own skin, feeling terrible all the time, or constantly tired, the dishes can wait, take time for you. 💖
Just for fun!

thanks you so much! 😃🤙
Indeed and agreed! 💙💙💙
the best way to learn about autism is to reach out and get to know someone with autism!
education is the key to breaking down barriers so that our asd loved ones are accepted as they are!

Repost @neurodivergentrebel - please have a look at her post, the comments are awesome and very relevant. adult autistic people exist too! so:
when i was a teenager and had just come out to everyone about my s****l orientation, there was a lot of bullying, harassment and fake concern that came my way. from peers, teachers and adults alike, who didn't fully understand why someone 'so young' and 'so beautiful' would 'label' and 'limit' themselves by identifying themselves as a lesbian. the attitude at the time was (and for some people, still is) that g*y people were more likely to be sickly, be assaulted and murdered, have no rights and that somehow being something other than heterosexual/cisgender is immoral. i wish i had the words back then to tell the people around me that it was the bullying and hate i got for their lack of understanding that made me so depressed and suicidal; maybe i even did. i doubt back then it would have made sense or sunk in.
what does this have to do with autism and acceptance? 16 years after i let people know i was gay, i received an asd diagnosis after being harassed at work by a team leader. many of the problems i've experienced during school and in the workplace are linked to my autism but are made worse when i am misunderstood by a peer/colleague/customer etc. i do my best to provide information and education where possible so that i'm protected and that there is a wider understanding of what autism is and what it looks like. but just recently i have run into some situations in my life where it feels like i'm bashing my head against the brick wall of 'autism is children only and looks nothing like you!' some people are kind and are willing to listen but so many more are impatient and it feels like they would prefer to believe i am just rude and odd rather than someone with an invisible condition trying their best. as it did so long ago, it's opinions like these that get me down more than being autistic. i hope if i share these with others, maybe people will get it ... ❤
