Just staring at my front squats with absolute disgust 😷 no but for real, i should love them! front squats are known to be super tough and uncomfortable, and many programs lack them! but i can confidently say they have improved my back squat form and bumped up my squat 1rm! they challenge posture and stability in a way that directly correlates to the back squat. not only do your quads get good tension and growth, but the thoracic (upper) back learns to isometrically extend under weight. in back squats, my legs could push the weight, my lower back could hold it, but my thoracic would collapse under the bar and tip me forward. squats are a full body exercise! πŸ’πŸ½‍♀️train what you hate and you’ll love the results πŸ’­

Some of this week's very abbreviated training... •

5x150kg cardio bench - felt pretty d**n good! •

10x160kg cardio squats - this might even be a rep pb, and every moment of it sucked. •

3x220kg sumo deads - i had actually planned to hit 5 or 6 reps but had zero energy and pretty much bailed after this set. •

Bodybuilding gave me lean, muscular legs, and powerlifting brought thickness, width and strength! i get asked what leg exercises have brought me the most gains...and to be honest it’s a balance of everything. i’ve got my squat/hip flexion patterns, hip extensions, knee extension and flexion, isometrics...but the majority of my exercises are compound movements (back squat, front squat, romanian deadlifts, sumo deadlifts, hip thrusts). my top favourite leg/glute exercises that i personally find quite effective are -sumo deadlifts -front squats and back squats (duh)
-bulgarian split squats -wide stance leg press -dumbbell stiff leg deadlifts with constant glute tension
-back extensions with a rounded back for glutes
-barbell hip thrusts ❀️tell me yours!

@kim_a_leonard hit her 1rm deadlift last night for 4x4 easy. she has come so far in such small time. kim had struggles with her mind overcoming the one true thing that stop you from getting to where you want to be , never under estimated yourself. once you overcome your mind , you can achieve anything you want to achieve. believing you can do something can sometimes be the fine line between if you will achieve it or don’t .
