My back workout
usually i post my live workouts to my snap chat but this time i thought i would upload it here so you guys can see exactly what my sessions look like.
-i started off with a 10 minute up hill cardio warm up.
-followed by dynamic stretches.
then started my weight session.
-supermans 3x15
(great for targeting your lower back. no need to squeeze your glutes as they aren’t the targeted muscle this session)
-back extensions w/ delt flies 3x10
(added the delt flies to help fire up my upper back muscles)
-seated row 3x20
-close grip pull downs 3x20
-narrow grip seated cable row 3x20
-rear latt pulldowns 3x20
(followed by static stretches to cool down)

hyperextension into static (high) face row with 2 dumbbells ๐Ÿ”ฅ
p.s. you will need a hyperextension machine.
-
execution:
• position yourself in the machine comfortably, then bend over and grab the dumbbells!
• perform a deadlift type of move , then return back down so that your upper body is parallel with the floor , from this position perform a rowing movement! return the dumbbells down and go for another deadlifts, and so on!
• keep the lower back and spine in relatively straight (neural ) position!
• shoulders back and chest tall !
• exhale when you go up through your mouth and inhale on the way down with your nose !

lol , i know sounds pretty complicated but once your body gets that motor movement pattern it will go smooth like butter ! practice! and build that thick and strong back , all the way from lower back to the neck !

usually post a good amount of my back workouts... the usual row variations and what not.
i understand there are only so many types of movements that can be done but i do like to tweak the basics here and there...
also depending on the gym things can change (i.e. equipment, attachments, etc.)
-
neutral grip rows:
standard for and day where i focused on adding some thickness and depth to my back are neutral grip rows. typically i use a amazing machine at @vbirongym that is plate loaded (avenger i believe) and has the most amazing pull... but yesterday i felt like sticking to cables and throwing a d bar attachment on.
for me this row variation attacks the back from a different angle and focused the tension to different muscles. always working in some different focuses.
the cables typically make it easier (never a good word to use) to focus on tension and emphasizing the stretch!

close grip pulldowns:
the exercise is actually one i just threw in yesterday trying to focus on the middle portion of my back... not much else to it aside from a different angle to focus on.

generally i love mixing it up to keep myself from losing focus and falling into the trap of going through the motions... huge deal for me.
