Can babies help tackle bullying in schools? apparently they can. this is baby naomi, she visits children every few weeks at a school in canada. it’s part of a programme called roots of empathy, and it's a "bit of a trick", says the scheme's founder. the idea is to use babies to get children to open up about their own feelings, and so help improve the atmosphere in schools.
Divers in mexico have discovered this – it could the world's longest underwater cave, stretching some 216 miles (347km). the discovery was made after months of exploring underwater channels, and could help shed new light on the ancient maya civilisation. the region is studded with relics of the maya people, whose cities drew upon an extensive network of sinkholes linked to subterranean waters.
This killer whale can "say" hello and bye bye. well, she can at least mimic those words and a handful of others. she learned to "speak" by copying a trainer in a marine park in france – and is thought to be the first of her kind to copy human speech. researchers say learning more about how killer whales communicate could help us protect them.

What a lucky escape. a quick-thinking teenager became a hero when this toddler fell on the tracks at a milan metro station. two-year-old mohammed got away from his mother and fell over the platform edge. 18-year-old lorenzo pianazza rushed to the woman's aid and the little boy somehow escaped unhurt.
