A fraction of the 6,700 seats—down from almost 10,000 at its peak—inside the great auditorium. built in 1894, guests have enjoyed its legendary acoustics for over a century. past performances include traveling preachers, musicians john philip sousa (1912-1926), ray charles (2002) and the beach boys (2018), and renowned organists. (the great auditorium houses one of the largest organs in the world, with more than 12,000 pipes.) this summer, only 100 of these chairs are allowed to hold bottoms due to the ongoing pandemic.
We ventured to the beach early! i mean..... at 8:10 traffic was bad! had breakfast at the lovely hungry hiker at hengistbury head and was amazed by the volume of people out and about. we popped over to the beach and it was gorgeous! sand was fine and the sea was calm. love the summer! see my story for a short beach clip x. #plasticpatrol#hengistburyhead#southbournebeach#beachlitter#beachlife
