Happy first day of fall🍁🍃 while i'm excited for sweaters and all about all things pumpkin (helloooo coconut psl🙋‍♀️☕) this season is about so much more.

the past few years i've become so passionate about chinese medicine and ayurveda. these old philosophies can teach us so much, and i've personally seen how powerful implementing their way principals can be.

fall is a time of
- l e t t i n g g o -
just as the leaves fall🍃, we should also release anything that isnt serving us - physically and emotionally. this can mean getting rid of clutter in hour home, or allowing emotions that aren't serving you to be released.

fall it's a time of turning inwards- so this is a great time to do activities like yoga, meditation, walking, and journaling✏. .

and since fall is associated with the air💨 element, finding grounding is super important. and one of the best ways is through food! think things roots - carrots🥕, sweet potatoes, parnsps, and yes - even pumpkin🎃 😉. things that were rooted to the ground, allow us to feel rooted when consume them. also things like soups and stews and cooked slow.

when we are able to live in harmony with the seasons & elements, they can live in harmony within us💫

5🖐 ingredients and 15 mins⏰ is all you need for this super easy and flavorful pasta dinner😋🙌 .
some nights i love creating and building big nourishing bowls, other days i get home late and just want something easy, but that's still healthy and delish. aka cue this easy peasy pasta bowl🍝

deets 👉 @eatbanza chickpea pasta (perfect because i get my carbs and protein all in one 💁‍♀️) + carrots🥕 & green beans sauteed in some @kouzinifoods olive oil with adobo seasoning.
add in the cooked pasta to the skillet of sauteed veggies and toss them all together with a little more olive oil + a few tbls of reserved pasta water💦 ( the best hack for making a yummy sauce) and that's it!

Had the biggest craving for tuna salad today, after not having it for ages!. tuna is one of those things that i forever without, then have a huge craving for it🤷‍♀️. so honoring my bod and made it up my fave way😋
and for all my fellow mayo haters🙋‍♀️ - i gotchu

tuna salad deets 👉
1 can @safecatchfoods tuna + 3 tbls organic plain greek yog (instead of mayo🙌) + mustard + finely chopped organic pickles + lots of diced celery + a big handful of chopped cilantro☘ (got that one from my b**e @nurturingbodyandmind 😘) .
.
served it with some romaine + sauteed zucchini + lots of @simplemills crackers that i realized i had post pic🙌😍 .
.
also i'm curious... team mayo or team no mayo?🙋‍♀️ i find this is something most people have a strong stance on😅

i've been telling myself, "next week" for months now. "next week i'll make time to go for a hike👣"
hiking is my all time favorite way to disconnect, talk with god, and feel grounded.

but lately, all i've been able to think about is how it can wait, how i have too much to do, and how i can always go - "next week".
except next week never seemed to come.. .

i grew up with a family that loved to hike, and during my undergrad while i was struggling with my health and personal life, i went hiking almost every weekend. it was my escape from reality, and the only time i felt i could experience true peace.
so for me, hiking is more than a "fun thing to do", it's become part of my wellbeing.

today i woke up and decided i needed to go hiking. i got up early to get work done so that i could allow the afternoon to be free. and even though while i was driving i felt guilty, wondering if i should still go.
once i got there though, i felt the release i've been yearning for for months.
complete surrender and release.
feeling myself as one with nature🌲, and humbled by all the beauty that surrounded me💚. .

i've been talking a lot about self care lately, because it's been something i've personally been working on a lot. something i realized i havent allowed for myself for years now. and we will pay for it in time. as i've seen in my life.

yes its uncomfortable for so many of us "type a's", but i allowing space for us to center and be present in the things that bring us joy - whether its yoga, working out🚴‍♀️, reading a book📖, or hiking - is so important.
so dont want till "next week" or next month, or next year. .

make time.
make space.
and allow for presence✨

Honestly no other way i'd rather end the weekend than with church and a big bowl of zoodles with a lush piece of wild caught salmon😍

had a fun weekend at @feastportland with @bobsredmill and my girl @vegukate , spending an evening with all my good friends from school, and even got to spend some time outside in the sunshine🌞 so although i had plans to get lots of work done, my soul feels so full❤ making me feel so ready for the week ahead. i can't stress enough how important it is to fill up yourself❤

Yep, even nutritionists enjoy cake🍰
living in the moment, taking things as they come, and honestly just not being so d**n regimented. we are here to enjoy life, not live in fear or deprivation. a healthy life allows space for spontaneity and living in the moment.

so yes, i'm alllll about getting in your veg🥕🥦🥑, but equally important to nourishing your body, is nourishing your soul💕

Super busy days call for super easy dinners🙆‍♀️ this brain nourishing meal came together in literally 15 mins flat. and who woulda known that @traderjoeslist almond butter ginger dressing would go so well with salmon 😍

deets 👇
ghee seared salmon {coat pan with ghee and cook for ~5 mins per side, depending on thickness} + fresh organic greens🍃 tossed in tjs almond butter dressing (one of the few packaged salad dressings with super clean ingredients👌} + leftover sauteed zucchini + a squeeze of fresh lemon🍋 + a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds for some crunch 😋

Roasty🔥 potatoes, fresh lemony🍋 zoodles, and seared wild salmon - my heart will forever have an affinity for you😍

had a weekend of flow, where i didnt do a lot of what i planned to do, but so much of what i felt lead to do💕

and because of that, feeling so uplifted and nourished.

we often associate "nourishment" with food🥕, but taking time to nourish our souls💫, i believe, is just as important. one simply cannot have a nourished body, without a nourished soul, and visa versa.

and when we can cultivate both in harmony, that, is where we can find true inner peace and calm.

Lunchin on this big bowl of goodness and could not be happier about it 😍

strolled the farmers market🌱 this morning and stocked up my veg supply, and now looking forward to sitting outside and catching up on some emails 🌞
was so bummed that they didnt have anymore watermelon🍉😭, which, was replaced by squash. such a bittersweet time of year. i love fall produce, but i feel like i'm still trying to hang on to every last bit of summer.

Vanilla blueberry smoothie with all the crunchies🙆‍♀️😋 one question i get a lot about smoothies are how to make them more satiating. my biggest tips:
- protein✔
- fat✔
- crunch✔

just a bunch of fruit and/or veggies is great, but will not keep you going for very long!
while protein and f*t may be more intuitive, i don't think adding texture is as talked about.
and adding something to chew, signals the brain that you are eating, which also makes you more satiated! it also even helps you digest your smoothie better by stimulating salivary glands.

things like granola, cacao nibs🍫, or nuts are my go-to smoothie toppers! or having something on the side like a piece of toast (one of my faves)
but most importantly - listen to your body! no body is the same, and just because one things or one way of eating works for someone else and not you, is okay.

and remember - insta is the highlight reel- not the whole picture! gaining advice and wisdom is important, but listening to your inner guide🧘‍♀️ is key🗝 @berryfitt
