Probably no other country is emotionally as attached to its bees as the slovenians. among the 2 million people living in slovenia there are 10’000 bee-keepers. bee-keeping has its origins in slovenia, where it is beeing (🤓)practised in harmony with nature since the 18th century. globally, the lack of wild-flowers, the use of pesticides and temperature anomalies are threatening bee populations. no bees, no food. #talesofchange#protectourwinters#biketouring#alpinetraverse#climatechange#busybees
Today has been an emotional day with some proper highs and lows.
the good bits: •a long lie in at our guest house followed by a delicious breakfast of sun-fried chicken, pork with sticky rice and loads of veggies.
•a beautiful start to the day along p***y fields with almost no traffic.
•finding a night market in ratchaburi and having a cheap and tasty dinner.
the lows: •lucia getting chased by an angry pack of dogs. they shook her up quite a bit and she got quite emotional. she got quite overwhelmed with the thought of dogs chasing her throughout the journey back to the uk as she is quite terrified of them. we may have to look for an air-horn tomorrow to act as our dog deterrent. •we mis-calculated our distance needed for the day so we ended up having to do an extra 15km. not a big deal in the grand scheme of the journey but annoying when we set off after midday.
