Great-horned owlet in morning light.
the two owlets are getting bigger and bolder—moving farther away from the nest and higher up in the tree. mom is still in the tree with them, just not as close as before. the feathers are developing and are more defined, but the tufts on its head still remind me of teddy bear ears. and this one has already perfected giving me the ‘ol stink eye!
Great blue heron hunting by a small creek at paramount ranch. appears to have a slight wound on its face in front of its eye. in second photo you can see its enlarged neck as it swallows something it has just caught.
