****just wondering wednesday****
just wondering if the correct spelling is “doughnut” or “donut.” we can agree that we all love those ring-shaped spheres of sweet fried heavenly goodness. but, are some of us spelling it wrong? “no!” we’re all correct! according to the merriam-webster dictionary, “doughnut” is the approved spelling. however, the “donut” spelling has been around since the late 1800’s. and when dunkin’ donuts became popular, it was a wrap. the “donut” spelling had a permanent place in american pop culture. however, writers outside the u.s. overwhelmingly prefer the “doughnut” spelling. personally, i spell it “doughnut.” and i don’t know why i do this, because “donut” is way easier. i’m curious—how do you spell it?
