It struck me today how our rose of sharon bush is thriving in this dry weather while every other plant and tree seems to think it is already fall. .
i was thinking about this as i drove back from taking the kids to school, how different people thrive in different situations, and how we are truly made to compliment and support each other. . #bloomwhereyoureplanted#bekind#findyourfit
I used to refuse to sit with my bad feelings.
every time i felt anything that went beyond "meh" to something that could be categorized as "negative", i'd do whatever i could to numb it.
i grew up in a family that "bucked up". we didn't have time for feeling sorry for ourselves. we had s**t to do.
as i grew older, i started to see these feelings as instructive. important, even. (and they were big, big feelings)
i'm still learning to sit with my feelings. it doesn't come naturally to me.
but one of the things that helps me most when i'm feeling less than my grooviest self is knowing that i'm not alone.
you're not either.
if you need a place to sit with your feelings (with other people who will hold space for them) i invite you to join us in the facebook community. (link in bio)
life can be hard, but it doesn't have to be lonely.
we'll hold space for you.
wow this photo has it all! i’m sure my boys were in the stroller, and morgan and all her flair was going to tag along with her little bible. my oldest child (only girl!) is going into 8th grade starting next week - time is flying!!!!
moms, i remember this stage with such joy and i know the days were tough and i know i wanted to speed my way through them and i couldn’t wait to get to nap time, but i also know i made the most of the days! we would “wake up the neighborhood” with the stroller — i’ve always had early risers so i would just plop them in the stroller with a bag of cheerios or a waffle and off we went. it was such a fun way to start the morning talking and listening and pointing out all the nature around us! .
it was during this stage that exercise really became something that i needed to get my ‘grrrrr 😡 “ out! i know that may not sound very “christian like” but if i don’t burn off energy, i am stuck in an anxious and overwhelmed place and it really helps to just get outside and move, and left to my own i’m really not that nice without it! .
so maybe you’re in a spot where you are super frustrated by your current situation - maybe instead of turning to food, wine, chocolate, or social media, try channeling your pent up frustration or anger (yep, i had to read a book called “she’s gonna blow” at one point 🤣) with a workout! if you want help figuring out what will get you results including nutrition plans, coaching, motivation, and support then reach out to me in the comments or by dm and let’s just chat about what little tweaks you can make to gain control and truly enjoy the season you’re in! #bloomwhereyoureplanted “i told you these things so that you can have peace in me. in this world you will have trouble. but be brave! i have defeated the world!””

can god trust you with a "little" so that he can bless you with "a lot?"
this morning i was doing cardio and listening to one of @stevenfurtick messages that dives into this subject really well.
it got me thinking..."am i using all of my gifts that god has given me in the season of life that i'm in right now?"
so many of us (myself included) constantly live for tomorrow's success. we tend to look towards future goals and think "when this happens, then i'll be happy!" etc.
but can i be real with you?
god isn't concerned about your destination. he cares about growing you up along the way.
think about it like this: why would god give you all of the desires of your heart right now if you aren't even prepared to receive it? "wait mitch, but i am ready! i've been ready for a long time!"
the reason why your preferred future hasn't happened yet is because god is still doing a work in you. he needs you to bloom right where you're planted. he's speaking to you right now.
in fact, if you did get everything you wanted, it may actually cause you more harm than good! and god's plans for your life may be even bigger than you're hoping for!
i know that sometimes life can be slow or it feels like god is silent when we need him most. but maybe, his silence is there to help you listen.
maybe he wants you to be in tune to his voice and to realize that the place you're at in your life right now is not an accident, but an opportunity to be a shining light to the world around you.
