Today is ten years. 22 . 01 . 2008
this beautiful smile belongs to #heathledger. when i was 8, i fell in love with him, i told my brother:" i'm going to be his wife". when i was 12, after years of insomnia, he fell asleep forever. my little heart was broken. i fell in love with him again in high school. and i love him now.
heath, i love your huge nose, smile, legs and hands, and your little, brown eyes. i love your curls, and freckles on your arms. and your voice. and your pain. thank you for being here, for your movies, and your loneliness. for being my hero, and one of the most important man in my life. *
"when i die, my money is not gonna come with me. my movies will live on for people to judge what i was as a person. i just want to stay curious and keep smiling like the joker." -
i can't believe it has been 10 years since we lost this legend of an actor, and everything that could have come from him.
it was way too young, way too young.
and it still makes me sad to think about it, how such talent and intergrity was lost to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
despite his family saying otherwise, i still think his extreme dedication and method of becoming the joker had a toll on this, but it really doesn't matter.
what matters is how he changed the acting world and the way we looked at movies for the short years he had on the screen.
he was just getting started, and
he left us with one of the best performances in film history, and there is absolutely no denying that.
his character in the dark knight added so much enigmatic madness and insanity to the themes of corruption, anarchy, order, chaos, and terror that was so relevant to the world at the time, and it really changed it...
the way we look at movies, what movies can say and be, and much of it was due to his presence.
the presence that still sits with us.
keep smiling, man.
The minute we started makeup and wardrobe tests, it was very clear that heath was going to be mind-blowing. there was a lot of buzz around the set about him. i remember the day he came in and tried on the nurse’s outfit and the socks — this was even before he had the makeup on and the hair. suddenly he changed the way he moved, and we knew it was something special. he managed to be incredibly terrifying, but at the same time you just can’t take your eyes off him. he’s so scary but he has this incredible charisma. i think that is something that really was special to heath. you the viewer have this strange fascination with what he’s doing, even though it’s horrifying and repulsive. - emma thomas, producer of the dark knight
