Rhino beetles are covered by a thick exoskeleton and a pair of thick wings, allowing the beetle to fly, although not very efficiently given its large size.

There are 29 accepted species and 147 accepted subspecies of the morpho butterfly genus. they are found mostly in the primary forests of south america, mexico, and central america.
.
morphos have a very distinctive, slow, bouncy flight pattern due to their wing area being enormous relative to their body size. many of the morpho species are metallic shimmery shades of blue and it is thought that the flash of the iridescent blue to their dark underside confuses predators when in flight.

The genus caligo, commonly called owl butterflies, are known for their owl-like eye spots and feathery appearance. they are found in the rainforest and secondary forests of mexico, central and south america.
.
they are very large and only fly a few meters at a time, preferring to fly at dusk. the butterflies rest for long periods on tree trunks and can be difficult to spot, but if disturbed they take immediate flight and if seen from below with their wings fully open they could easily be mistaken for an owl.
