Comprehensive workbooks for those of you attending the workshop on sunday 🙌🏽 say what! these took soo much effort because i wanted to do them right and not just do a couple of pages of letters. it’s almost a whole lesson in itself. combine this with workshop instruction and one-on-one help, it’s gonna be one action-packed sunday! i am so so happy with how they’ve turned out.

Long personal post alert ⤵️ but continue on if you’re curious about how i got into calligraphy, since today is my 2 year calligra-versary ✒️ .
a little over 2 years ago i was looking for a hobby when i came across calligraphy and hand lettering. my mom had taken calligraphy in college and i always loved how she wrote, so it felt like it was something i could really get into. i searched for an in person class to take and finally found a pointed pen pop up class that was coming to town. i signed up months in advance and couldn’t wait. the week of the class, my husband and i found out i had had a miscarriage with our first pregnancy, and the d&e was scheduled for the day before the class. i was devastated. we had been trying for a while and it seemed like everything was against us. not only that, my dad had passed away a few months prior, so now i had lost a parent and a child all within a year. i wasn’t in a good place. normally, this is when i would say f it and bail on the class, no chance i would even attempt to go. i didn’t even know if i would physically be up for it after the procedure. but something told me i should go. so the next morning i got up, got dressed, took my painkillers, and prayed no one there would talk about how cute their kids are or ask me if i had any (immediate breakdown territory). and guess what? they didn’t. and i loved every second of the class and have loved lettering ever since that day. what started as just a hopeful hobby so i could make cute signs for my house has been an outlet through some really low times, and gave me joy when i thought it was impossible. and it still does 💕 .
i even dug up some of my earliest stuff for you guys (pre @amandaarneill class) 🤦🏽♀️ .

Day 17/100 #100daysofsumi
here’s my official earth day sentiment. my deepest prayer, other than wanting racial equality in our country before i die, my other deepest prayer is that water is regarded as the holiest most sacred life source on our planet and should be protected at all costs. on another note: today was an amazing day at the @craftcouncil show. a day of powerful connections and conversations that feel life changing on a lot of levels. i am profoundly grateful to be on this path. ————————————— #the100dayproject#cpt100day
