Según historiadores, el maíz fue llevado a europa en el siglo xvi desde méxico. en la actualidad es parte de la mesa de muchas familias. en ecuador hay varias clases de este cereal, una de estas es el choclo. en la cocina ecuatoriana hay preparaciones sencillas y otras un poco más elaboradas con choclo. hoy compartimos una nueva receta a base de este cereal.
torta de choclo
4 tazas de choclo crudo en grano
2 tazas de queso fresco
2 cucharadas de queso parmesano
3 cucharadas de mantequilla
1/2 taza de crema de leche
1/2 cebolla blanca
1 cucharada de azúcar
preparación de la torta de choclo
licuar todos los ingredientes, menos el queso parmesano, hasta lograr una masa uniforme.

note: to add on to the taste one may use cumin powder and garam masala.

although i am incredibly proud of my chinese heritage *looks at all my chinese inspired tattoos*, i’ve only recently started making more chinese food. this is largely because i’ve always associated chinese food with family, and home cooking (by someone else lol). is it possible to recreate the love that goes into your mums cooking? the answer is definitely no - it’s an elusive secret ingredient!
in saying that though, my mum raised a cheap queen. i’m not about spending $2 buying one bun, when i can easily make a whole batch for the same cost. making 👏🏻 mumma 👏🏻 proud👏🏻!
this was my first time making chinese steamed buns, and i’m so happy with how they turned out! i used @red.house.spice’s recipe, which was ultra easy and quick to prepare (relatively speaking, we’re making yeasted bread here so a little rise time is required). my only addition was tripling the shallot filling in my buns, as i’ve always thought traditional hua juan lacked enough onion-y goodness. i highhhhly recommend making this small tweak - you get so much more flavour for no extra effort!
