Our house is slowly but surely becoming more empty. in just a few weeks we will be down to only the essentials. i have to say when we made this decision, i was still so nervous. now, with the governor’s most recent announcement to close all indoor business again, including my salon, i feel we have made the right decision for our family. we will be traveling until i can operate business as usual. ♥️

Yesterday was the official start day for the #mytransphormationstartstoday summer sprint challenge. and these are my “day 1” photos for my entry.

my advisor and i have set some new goals for the next 8 weeks and i’m looking forward to seeing the changes start to take shape.

putting on muscle is going to be a whole new ballpark, a whole new challenge for me. on the plus side, i get to eat more food (and who doesn’t want to be told to eat more?!).

I’m back!!!!

after 6 weeks of insanely hard recovery, and not lifting a single weight or stepping foot in a gym, i am back at it
.
best feeling ever!
.
throughout my recovery, i have continued to eat extremely clean, get a lot of sleep, and work with specialists to get my body healed and ready to build again
.
i can tell you without a doubt that eating clean, building my body the last two years, and making my health a priority allowed me to heal much faster than i would have without all of it
.
it’s hard to feel a decrease in strength, but the work i put in for two years will help me come back better and stronger
.
what is the key to building a strong body and living a healthy life
.
eating clean (carbs, fats, and proteins)
-getting enough sleep
-drinking water
-lifting heavy weight
-sweating your a*s off
-letting go off emotional heavy weight and loving yourself more
-and getting a coach so you know what to do with your specific body and goals
.
there is no cheating your way to health or an amazing body
.
it’s the daily grind, dedication, and commitment, that creates a body that will be the vessel for success in in health, strength, and all other aspects of your life

it’s the journey, the ups and downs and in between, that builds a life!

16 weeks out vs 12 weeks out! i have been practicing my posing (almost) daily and have been cramping up more often that i’d like to πŸ˜‚ β €

had my first proper posing sesh with one of my idols @fitveganchef last week and already learned so much. natalie is someone i look up to so much - as a vegan ifbb pro she is living proof that vegans can bodybuild at a high level πŸ’ͺπŸ½β €

as a bikini girl, the closer i get to show day, the tinier i’ll look. without the posing, trust me it’s not a very nice look. but when you twist and turn your body in ways you never thought you could - it creates this really nice shape that looks amazing on stage.β €

posing and stage presence are huge and could potentially be the difference between getting first callouts and not placing! i think it’s going to be my biggest challenge this prep but practise makes perfect - i still have a little under 12 weeks to perfect my routine! πŸ–€

Some of my friends may hate me for this, but omg that was great! first time to the gym in 4 months and 3 hours later walk out feeling like $1 000 000. warm up, pull day, cardio, myofascial stretch sesh. don't worry, i kept it smart and safe, but learned that i'm much stronger today doing some movements than i was back in march πŸ’ͺ bonus!

in 2019 i made the decision to stop working full time as a surgical tech so i could focus on becoming a certified personal trainer and having my own business. isn't that how life is is supposed to go? go to college get a degree and get a well paying job 🀷 or so i thought.

but i finally decided to stop with all the what ifs and took a risk to achieve my goal of becoming a personal trainer because in my heart i knew that's what i wanted to truly be happy. i love fitness and i wanted to share my love for fitness with other people and make them feel confident and happy in their own skin. ❀️⁣

i kept thinking to myself over and over again what if i fail 🀷 well i realized that's okay because there are probably going to be times where i do. but with risk comes reward and an opportunity to grow and learn from our mistakes. ⁣

so, i encourage everyone to step outside their comfort zone and stop with the what ifs and do what makes you happy ❀️⁣

On this day 1 year ago i completed my first 8 week weight loss challenge. the left photo was taken in may of 2019 the middle photo taken at the end of the competition which was one year ago today and the right photo taken yesterday.

i shock myself sometimes the amount of changes i was able to make in one year, but i also know just how hard i worked to get there! never let anyone work harder than you do! that’s the key to being successful! ***i got second place in this competition and entered 3 more back to back. the final one was supposed to end april 1, 2020 but the gyms closed. excited to see how it goes once we are able to complete it!

i got some pics yesterday at the pool and when i first looked at them i was kinda discouraged. i’m still not where i wanna be and that got to me a little. but then i thought “ok justina, look how far you’ve come and what you have been able to accomplish in a short amount of time.” i know i still have a lot of work to do but i am proud of where i’m at right now and where i’m going. i challenge all of you to look in the mirror today and tell yourself you’re proud of where you are, because i know sometimes it’s hard to do! and remember to give yourself some grace! much love πŸ’›

In what ways has your life returned to “normal?”

something my mom had asked me during il’s phase 1 & 2 was what am i most excited about reopening. for me that was the gym. i felt a sense of normalcy return when my gym had officially reopened in phase 4. though so much has changed to comply with social distancing, it feels great to be back and working out the way i feel most motivated to. πŸ₯ŠπŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ‹πŸ½‍♀️

7/12/20: torpedo 2-2. after getting certified with projectile people seasoning in the form of a shot to the gut 🀣. then the stamina part of the session was 40 total reps of clean and jerks at 45#. light weight due to volume.

7/13/20: torpedo 2-3. “aww, i don’t want a recovery day. i want to lift and run!” -me at 6a. i guess an hour long stretch session was needed.

I have realized the pain i have felt for the lives impacted in the fitness industry, during this time of challenge, is because my decade long experience in corporate fitness has allowed me to create meaningful relationships with people who desire more opportunity, and the ability to be seen, heard and valued in their fitness careers.

as i see people i love and care about and many of you, whose stories i have yet to learn, lose jobs, income, endure overwhelming stress and transition to a new normal, it has allowed me to process some of my own challenges during this time.

being fully transparent is not easy, especially with the pressure to show up as a leader in the fitness and wellness space with the presentation of having it all together. it’s this kind of suppression of emotions that had me treating my body horribly during quarantine. i was drinking too much, creating unhealthy habits, because i wasn’t managing my stress well, and feeling guilt and shame each day when analyzing my choices.

as a fitness professional, i needed a reset in my nutrition, energy, and the motivation to create consistency and healthy habits that would create long-term change. i have struggled with my body and self image for years and knew how my self-sabotaging behaviors of coping with stress affected my emotions, mood, and overall confidence. i knew now was the time to get healthy and take care of myself.

as i expressed how i was feeling, my trusted friend lauren shared a holistic nutrition and well-being solution with me that would help reset my mind, body, and intentions. i needed convenient, premium nutrition to simplify my days and transition into my new normal. i have gained energy, am managing my stress better, and have gained an intangible product in a community that has supported me and encouraged me to dream big. i have been able to align with a community of entrepreneurs, who are invested in each other’s success, while transforming the health and lives of people globally. we have grit and resilience and hearts to serve.
