‘equal parts innovator and iconoclast, mugler’s designs became works of art, sculptures to be donned by divas, goddesses, and primadonnas who could transform into exotic creatures, e****c enigmas, and fantastical archetypes – perfectly timed with the rise of supermodel in the late 80s and early 90s. in shows that were more like dramatically orchestrated performances than what we see on the catwalk today, all the legends walked in mugler’s famous creations – naomi campbell in one of those chrome and fibreglass car bodies, cindy crawford in a bondage bodysuit with n****e tassels, linda evangelista in a sequinned wig and gown, eva herzigova surrounded by red feathers... the list goes on’ - at @dazed@dazed fashion on @manfredthierrymugler
Happy birthday, #herbritts
today would have been his 66th birthday.
he had an amazing eye...and always seemed to capture the very essence of someone with his lens.
i met herb when i was about 14 years old in new york with my dad.
my dad had worked with him on several campaigns thru the years.
and although i don't remember a whole lot of our brief time together...
i do distinctly remember his kindness to me & his genuine nice way he had about him.
enjoy these amazing pics...
these are a few of my favorites.
i dug & dug to find ones of my dad & him...
but haven't come across them yet.
