Health is such a multifaceted concept & my idea of how health is represented and expressed has changed as i’ve evolved. i think sometimes the conversation around health can focus so much on what’s on our plate that we miss other very fundamental pillars of health, and also miss the whole point.
i want to be healthy so i can be the best version of myself, so that i can love myself and the people in my life. so that i can spread joy. so that i can be present. so that i can be kind. do good. laugh lots. be of service to others. create. and live a happy life.
and eating healthy deffs helps me do that, but health goes so far beyond kale. it includes how grounded we are in our community, our sense of purpose, our relationship with food, our relationship with ourselves, how we talk to ourselves, how we love ourselves & how we view this life. do we treat it with the reverence & respect it deserves? do we treasure life? these are all questions i ask myself to keep myself in check and to remember what my reasons for being healthy are in the first place.
i want to be kind to myself and nourish myself right and sometimes that means eating a big ole bowl of sweet potatoes (we all know how much i love my yams haha) & broccoli, and sometimes that means digging into a pint of coconut ice cream. there’s no way i’m going to live in a world where vegan donuts and pizza exist, and only eat salads. what a waste 😂. so let’s all remember our personal reasons for wanting to be healthy? i’d love to hear yours in the comments! 💜
