The other day i overheard conversation with a guy telling a woman and her kid that we are not meant to eat grains and sugar.
_ "our bodies are not meant to process those things, " he convincingly stated.
and that 🍕 pizza, especially the 🧀 cheese, was "toxic" and "bad" for you.
he even went on to say that eating pizza would prevent the woman from losing weight.
again, smh....*face palm 🤦🤦🤦 _
a big part of me wanted to ask him how did he arrived to these conclusions, but once he stated that he heard it from the "knowledgeable" person at the nutrition store, i decided to drop the matter for a few reasons:
1. if he was willing to get his information from so-called authoritative sources instead of doing his own homework and getting into the science, there is probably no reasoning with him. these are same kind people who put stock in people like dr. oz and dr. mercola.
2. he didn't know me from adam (or in this case "eve" as the saying goes), and it would have been rude of me to interject.
3. it most likely would've been a waste of energy, and i would most likely have gotten frustrated.
peace of mind 🌿is a beautiful thing.
what i wanted to say is:
unless you're celiac, have an allergy, or some intolerance, you don't need to avoid some or all grains.
the human body is equipped to process grains like any other food. grains are largely made up of carbohydrates, which are made up of sugars, starch, and cellulose.
in mainly the small intestines, these sugars are further broken down into simple sugars (monosaccharides). _
so, yes, contrary to what that guy said, we can also process sugar(s). _
fyi, sugar in the form of glucose is what predominantly feeds are very energy-hungry brains.
in addition, i wanted to ask how did he get the idea that cheese was toxic?
its high f*t content doesn't make it good or bad. (side note: there is a cheese that can could k**l you and that's casu marzu, a larvae-infested sardinian sheep milk cheese. no joke. swipe left) _ 👉 moderation is key with any food.
countrary to some circles, portion size and calories do count. ☝️

This is a very important post from my friend and colleague @drsteventeitelbaum
i cannot present this topic better.. i will therefore directly quote him. "turn up the vollume. this dermatologist sets quite a different atmosphere in the operating room than me. the surgical theater is a place of formality and sanctity, no less so than the bimah of the synagogue or the pulpit of a church. even when a patient allows their operation to be filmed decorum must be maintained. i wish i could say that it was only the hordes of non-board certified charlitains masquerading as plastic surgeons who are acting improperly in the or. but even some of the brethren have succumbed to the temptation to post videos on social platforms of themselves in surgery trying to be "entertaining." of course this video is a most extreme and perhaps unprecedented example of a deranged surgeon aided and abetted by equally reprehensible or personnel. patients should not be scared this might happen to them. it is a reminder to do serious and thoughtful research about their doctors. while that seems obvious, patients are not always doing a good job. thos video was posted on youtube because the doctor believed it would help her business, and indeed her practice shockingly continued after this video was available for everyone to see. wouldn't you have crossed her off your list? (btw, the music in my or is bach's goldberg variations played by grigory sokolow. if you do not know of him, immediately go to amazon and order his cd's. he is angelic). please check out the rest of dr. teitelbaum's posts.
