I used to hate smiles. or so the thought of drawing it. i just didn't know how to paint teeth. then i started getting commissions of people smiling, happy in their portraits. i couldn't say no, so i pushed through, went out of my comfort zone and paint. i kept thinking that if i just keep painting these, no matter how bad it'll come out, by the 3rd, 4th or the thousandth try, by the end of it, i will have learned to paint smiles. and that's a skill i'll have with me.
with the deadlines piling up and tons of school work ahead of me, i learned to apply the same mindset, this is just like painting smiles. if i just push and get through this, by the end of it, i'll have learned something new, something invaluable, and it'll all be worth it.
thank you for coming to my tedtalk, anyway, here's a portrait study referenced from @aryyzona
