Oh my sweet ellie bells. i originally was not keen on the idea of getting a dog because dogs are a big committment. we had even thought about just getting another cat. i told my now husband i was waiting on one more sign that we should get a dog and that i would pray about it. the next day we went to my co-workers church (itown...amazing btw) and the minister made a joke about how god likes dogs more than cats because dogs are mentioned in the bible more often. austin nudged me and said, "there's your sign." so, i decided to fearlessly agree to adopt a dog. we messaged a lady the following week about a female wire-haired labradoodle that had golden fur and within 20 minutes she said we could come and get our puppy the next day. we were thinking about several names, but i persisted on ellie. ellie just seemed like a happy name and it just felt right. so we got a collar, toys, a vet appointment, treats; everything our new puppy could need. later, i realized i had no clue what the name ellie meant! i wanted it to mean something as happy as it sounded. so we found out ellie meant light of god.
so when people started judging us for getting a dog while in an apartment, before we were married, or for whatever other reasons we just kept telling them, "jesus made me do it." ;) i don't know why jesus made us do it, but i am sure glad he gave me the last sign i needed. #easter#bedtimestory#bedtime#thestoryofellie#mylifehasgonetothedogs#dogpeople#cuddles#puppers#dogsofinstagram
