The prolonged dry spell we're having has made most of the vegetation dry and brown and the earth has become rock solid. this makes things very difficult for our wildlife, particularly those that rely on isolated water sources and food from underground. badgers in particular are really struggling with deyhration and they are unable to access their primary food source; earth worms. i've been putting out water and a handful of peanuts at the setts i visit a couple of times a week, in the hopes that it will be enough to get them through until we get some more rain! this image was taken after a heavy downpour a while back and although foraging in the wet grass made this cub look a little bedraggled, they must be getting desperate for conditions like this again!

Three pelicans struggle to locate their lunch... i've always found it incredible how they expand their pouches and i'm happy to admit that it does boggle my mind trying to figure out exactly how they do it! ⠀
