I have learnt today that waiting in a car showroom for your car to be fixed with three hyper kids is rather stressful. they helped themselves to many complimentary hot chocolates and i received various disapproving looks from people as they ran around causing havoc. tried stern mum voice but in the end i decided that the more noise they made the quicker they might get on with fixing the car so we could get outta there! it worked. is it just me that ends up in these awkward situations?! •

Marley is 11 today! happy eleventh birthday to my most favourite chihuahua and the secret ghostwriter of my novels, pictured here at his desk in 2016 ❤️
(buddy i’m sorry i gazumped you and got a cat; i know the indignity lives on.) eleven years of friendship! eleven years of perching on the back of my neck! eleven years of nipping everybody outside of my family (and sometimes them, too)! eleven years of squeaky cuddles and loyalty... here’s to many more ❤️❤️❤️
Last but not least, the dining area. whether it’s the elm and steam bent beech of an ercol dining suite, or a 60s teak table and sideboard pairing, a mid century look is the perfect setting for a family dinner!
Happy sunday everyone. yesterday morning we had a cleaning spree. it took over 4 hours to clean the house 🙈this is a pic of the top stair landing. we moved the ercol daybed upstairs in the loft for now until it can be restored and moved this ercol chair from the open plan area to this space. i’m hating the lamp shade!! i need a new one. might pop to @ikeauk in the week to get a replacement - what colour do you think i should go for? dark or light? or even just a led filament bulb? #cornerofmyhome#nordic
Restoring the ercol coffee table in my previous post was meant to be a quick job... just a case of sanding down and refinishing... but the spindles were far too warped for my liking. i had no idea how i was going to rectify them. google gave me a few ideas but they didn’t really work. in the end, a damp cloth, some lolly sticks, some weights and a hairdryer did the trick! ...oh and persistence and patience too! happy with the result!!!!
