Did you see the amazing full moon last night 🌕?! so bright and beautiful✨i’ve always loved its comforting, glowing face and remember looking up at it when i was at school and felt so reassured knowing it could see so many people, including my family, shining it’s bright light on them all. at risk of sounding massively woowoo, i’ve always felt a connection with it, even though i’m sure full moons send me a bit loopy..🌝 i hope the moons in my lightboxes will watch over many other children, for many years to come, in whichever rooms they end up✨.

what do you expect to find at the end of a rainbow in scotland? 🌈🏰🐑🦄
some castles are just crying out to be photographed and even though only a fraction of ardvreck castle still stands, its setting on the banks of loch assynt with a mountain backdrop attracts many snap happy visitors.
🏞i'm sure its popularity has grown thanks to its location on the #nc500, however it is very deserving of its photogenic reputation.
🏰the tower house dates back to around 1490 and was built in 2 phases, with an extension added in the 16th century.
⚔it was built by the macleod clan, however they lost ownership after a 2 week long siege by the mackenzies of wester ross. the new owners decided the austere castle was unsuitable and abandoned it a few decades later.
⚡the castle was later struck by lightening and much of the building was destroyed.
💰the mackenzies decided to build a more modern mansion nearby and used some of the stone from the castle in the construction. they couldn't keep up the costs of their new luxury home and fell in to financial ruin. with such a turbulent and unfortunate past, the fact that any of it remains today is a miracle in itself.

Found a house that’s almost as sweet as me 💁🏻♀️🍭🎂
Winter is here.... this is one of a few images i took when visiting the beautiful castle bran in transylvania one winter. the castle is often thought to have been the one that bram stoker describes as the home of count dracula in his novels. as a horror fan, i thought i'd take a visit myself whilst taking in the stunning carpathian countryside that surrounds it. well worth a visit.
