T o e s t u e s d a y 😂
so, with all my recent "ballet" posts, i have had many people ask questions about it so here is a few of those answers for you! 💁🏼
did you dance on your toes?
yes i did, all the time, never took the bloody shoes off! ballet class/warm up at 09:30/10am all the way through to end of shows at 11pm. 🙈 ..
does it hurt?
to begin with yes, the shoes are super hard so cause blood blisters/sores but your skin hardens and you get "used" to the pain ... you have to! 😂
do you have special shoes?
yes, i used to get mine custom made specifically to accomodate my foot. i have super high arches & strong feet so always needed a high vamp and extra hard shoes so i didn't constantly break them! 🙈
did you have a "routine" to break in your shoes?
yes! most dancers did. because my feet were strong, i tried not to faff too much. typically i'd soften the vamp with my hands, gently manipulate the bend in the shoe so it would mould better to my instep, sew ribbons and elastics for security and occasionally darn the toe (not shown) to create a stable and non slip toe. i'd also apply shoes hardener before wearing to make them last longer.
how many shoes did you get through?
this completely depended on my schedule. typically i would have 3/4 different pairs on the go at any one time but sometimes i'd go through 3 pairs in one show.
what brand did you use?
i changed a lot through my schooling and career, it takes time to find the perfect shoe. my favourites were my custom made @freedoflondon shoes but i also loved @bloch_eu aspiration.
i hope that answers some questions and i am more then happy to answer more if you find it interesting! 💁🏼 happy tuesday everyone! ❤️
