🚨🚨🚨don’t obsess over the scale: often times women come to me and say they need to “lose weight” because they notice unwanted f*t in certain areas (stomach, back, arms). most of the time their current weight is considered the standard, healthy weight in relation to their height, and what they are actually experiencing is a high body fat% needed to be shed and replaced with muscle. now during this process, they may notice their weight staying the same or even going up a bit because of the muscle mass they’re building. i’ve witness many clients get discouraged when all they are concerned with is seeing their weight move, even though their body fat% is dropping! if you’ve ever been in this situation and may have gotten discouraged not seeing the scale move, here’s my advice: either get a scale that tells you your full body read-out (not just weight). or pay more attention to how you feel, notice how your clothes are fitting, take progress photos, etc. ✨

Deads & neutral spine
•baseball is a bigger group. pitchers & position lift together this year. it’s about 34 guys. i’ve had over 60 football players in a room before. so this is actually cake🎂 😎the coaches help a ton and my intern @rolando_el_instructor is exceptional. 👌🏾
• for me, the best way to manage a big group while teaching mechanics is to use isometrics. it keeps everybody moving in unison, which allows me to walk the room and monitor as many athletes as possible. i get a pretty good glimpse of both rooms throughout each stage of the lift. iso’s are also good for strengthening tendons, ligaments & muscles as well.
•neutral spine! we also do iso’s learning deads so they can get accustomed to feeling that neutral spinal alignment throughout all portions of the lift.
•this includes the neck. most energy leaks occur in lower lumbar (flexion) and cervical spine (hyperextension). i need that chin tucked, natural kyphosis in t-spine and neutral lordosis in lumbar to reduce excessive compression of vertebral bodies.
•intrinsic core stabilizers facilitate proximal stiffness. however, these are endurance muscles...some people can recruit them at the beginning, but they start to get weaker as the bar travels up. once i see buckling/excessive flexion i’ll stop the athlete ✋🏾. that set is done for them. in the words of dr. stuart mcgill “spare your spine!” .
Morning flow routine i typically do to get the body loose and ready for the day. it changes daily depending on what my body feels it needs. since i was sitting down traveling the day prior, my back was tight so i just responded to what my body needed. -
