This year’s #transformation offering. as i’m not shooting this year, the aim was get to a shape that would leave me around 8-10 weeks out of shoot ready, and maintain that indefinitely. i was sick to death of ballooning up and shrinking down, and it was doing me no good. this way i work hard and diet well 90% of the time, and the 10% i fancy some flexibility, i don’t sweat it at all. the goal is to never allow my condition to slip farther than the picture on the right for good now. with a bit of hard work and consistency this really isn’t that hard. that way when it’s time to get in front of the camera again, it’s an 8 week slog and job done. do what makes you happy #flexfriday

look no further, here are the 4 things you need to start doing now to get that chiseled chest!

eat in a calorie surplus
that means eating in a calorie surplus of 200-300 calories, so you can limit f*t gain while building dense muscle. you also need to get between .7g-1g per lb of body weight of protein a day to recover between workouts and to start building more muscle.

prioritize presses
in your upper body workouts you need to prioritize your horizontal presses first. this means performing incline barbell bench presses, flat barbell benches, chest dips, dumbbell bench presses, and incline chest flys early in your workouts. these movements all hit the chest hard, overloading the muscle and forcing it to grow!

train chest 2-3 days/week
to grow a bigger chest you need to provide enough training stimulus to elicit a "growth response". training shoulders 2-3 days/week is the exact training frequency you want to get enough volume and recovery to start blowing up your chest!

progressive overload
in order to build the muscle fibers of the chest and add size you need to be progressively overloading your lifts. a simple way is to aim to hit weekly pr's. this means your adding weight to the bar and reps to your presses. this forces your muscles to continuously adapt and grow as you challenge them over time.
