Greens for healthy skin and hormones*** last night i had all the greens with my teriyaki salmon and brown rice asian noodles. the recipe for great skin starts with a healthy diet which includes lots of greens!! i add spinach to just about everything and we easily go through 500g to a 1kg of spinach in our house! but i am really trying to up my intake on other green vegetables that are nutrient dense like broccolini and asparagus. .
broccoli helps with premature aging as its high in vitamin c to increase collagen production, it also helps with premature aging by providing our body with a load of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals phytonutrients and dietary fibres to protect our skin cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals which help reduce the signs of premature aging. .
also asparagus is said to assist with heath of the thyroid (so that’s right up my alley) which keep your hormones in check! .
when cooking my asparagus and broccolini i put a bit of oil in a hot pan, add ginger to the oil then put the veggies in and mix them around with a wooden spoon (avoid any plastic utensils with heat!). put the lid on to steam them slightly and then give them a quick mix before taking them out of the pan. i don’t like to overcook my veggies. i still like them crunchy so that i can retain the nutrients! .
pairing these with brown rice noodles and some baked fish is absolutely delicious and super satisfying. even easier if you get the bag n bake fish for a quick, easy and no mess dinner!
