i’m pretty sure my grandfather had a collection of these glass insulators from telephone poles. i remember how they came in all different colors, veritable gemstones of colored glass made for a very specific purpose, and otherwise purposeless (unless you need a paperweight). but to me, they are both relic and curiosity. i read that manufacturers used recycled glass to make these pieces, that some colors are far more rare than others, some are made of porcelain, and foggy areas had their own type of insulators due to moisture. >>> #100chromatics#the100dayproject#gouachepainting#deepdarkgreen#vintageinsulator#glassinsulator#coloredglass#greenglass#sanfranciscoartist
Take a look at this beauty! i've been hunting for a purple insulator - so hard to track down - then @scotsmanstuart and @diddadora brought me this absolute beauty all the way from canada and i had no idea! they have brought me four insulators in total - the cleaning is a work in progress but look forward to individual and group photos when the job's done! but i had to post this little beauty right away. looks great already sitting with my hemingray blue.
