in the distance i saw a cliff. it was featureless, flat, boring - you know - 'cliffy'. you might say uninteresting but as i drew closer i saw details: scrunty gorse, shawdowed cracks, a telephone cable strung christmas-tree-fashion along the face. there are goats here and they walk along the edge with absolute sure-footed crazy grace.
i wonder about them and us, clinging to our cliffs eking out a meagre living on scarce resources.
there was a time when i thought of myself as sure and able, looking forward to a glorious golden future set free to explore... well, anything.
but now that i look i see a telephone cable strung along the edge of a cliff and the goats are gone.
it's time for lunch.
the baby laughs.
