Things i'm good at: making banana nice cream. things i'm not good at: ice cream selfies 😂 🌈
anyhoo, one of the things i've realised over what is now half a decade of healthier eating is that i need treats 👌 whenever i've tried to cut sweet stuff out entirely, i've ended up binging big time. i have two strategies for dealing with this.
☑️find healthier alternatives that aren't dissatisfying to me - otherwise i eat the healthier thing and then the thing i was trying to avoid eating anyway.
☑️eat the thing, try not to go crazy with the portion, enjoy every mouthful 😘
there are plenty of studies showing that cutting something out of your diet entirely is usually a recipe for disaster in the long run. if you're interested in reading more about the psychology behind this, please go and read some of the excellent posts by @soheefit who is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject.
one of my favourite alternatives is banana nice cream. just freeze some chopped banana and, when you want ice cream, blend it up with a splash of milk and any flavourings you fancy! it's amazing 😍 this had 2 spoons of @pbfit.uk powdered peanut butter in and it was the shizz 😘
Alternative uses for a massage couch! this is a *great* bodyweight exercise for the lower back, glutes and hamstrings 😁
of course, you can perform it off of a chair, sofa arm, table or yoga ball. whatever you have to hand! you can even do it on the floor if you have the mental discipline to keep those knees lifted and glutes maximally engaged throughout 😘
✔keep holding your knees as high as possible
✔have your knees as wide apart as you can manage
✔think about fixing the upper leg in place so you only move at the knee
✔point your toes throughout! it activates so many muscles in your leg and makes it much harder 😉
3 sets of 10-15 repetitions will leave your glutes on fire in the best possible way 🔥🔥🔥
