Long post... there is a plethora of parts that we all consider, such as headers, a cold air intake, a catback exhaust, a e85 flex fuel kit, and a tune for our frs/brz/gt-86. we all know right off the bat that this car is no horsepower monster; let alone its lagging torque. but, with these parts it does make somewhat of a difference. i have done everything except installing a e85 flex fuel kit and i have been somewhat satisfied with the outcome, but what still remains is the lagging torque at lower rpms.
one of the things i didn’t consider was the throttle body (tb), and after installing the @gramsperf tb, there has been a noticeable difference in the throttle response after driving it with the stock tb for so long. this was a noticeable change throughout gear changes, and surprisingly it still had a strong response in 6th gear.
i know. i know. many will just say, “why don’t you just turbo or supercharge it and call it a day?” or “just sell it and buy a faster car.”... i’ll admit i am a bit obsessed over what this engine can achieve without forced induction, and this modification peaked my curiosity. to those who might say to buy a faster car, i knew i wanted this car as a project from the start.
you do whatever makes you happy.
the goal is to still supercharge or turbo the car, but obviously within the carb legal guidelines… that’s my only complaint… 🤬
