... is what a woman told me yesterday, honesty and gratitude shining in her eyes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
last week, she asked me for tips to slim down her thighs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
i told her the physical steps to doing so, but also asked her:
“would having slimmer thighs actually make your life better? would all that effort and sacrifice really pay off?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the surprise and uncertainty on her face told me that she had never considered that.
she hadn’t considered that the “perfect” body we are conditioned to desire comes with consequences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
she hadn’t considered that changing her body to fit the mold wouldn’t even yield a “net positive”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
because we’re all made to believe that being...
thinner
prettier
more desirable
... would somehow automatically make life better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
i’ve tested that theory. i’ve done the “no days off”, tunnel vision thing.. and guess what? i was even less happy than before.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
because at the end of the day, we’re all just looking for permission to embrace what we already have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
we all want to be able to just enjoy this body we live in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
so when i told her this one sentence:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “there’s nothing wrong with having thick thighs”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
... it was like i turned her world upside down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
she had never considered the option to just embrace her current body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and that realization changed her life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
that’s not to say that i’m anyone special or that it was only me who could deliver that message. i just happened to be the one who delivered that truth to her. right place, right time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
it’s also not to say that you can’t have physique goals. but they shouldn’t stem from a lack of self-acceptance or a belief that changing your body will change your mind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
so please consider that you’re perfectly imperfect, just the way you are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
consider that evolving your mindset and relationship with yourself might be what you need, not changing your body.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
consider that you don’t need to change, but you can if your heart + mind are working together ❤️

yesterday i posted some client progress on my story and hundreds of you couldn’t believe that one of my f*t loss clients only lost 1.5 lb, yet looked totally different. [watch my “client wins” highlight if you wanna see for yourself!]
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
she’s been fueling her body, lifting weights, and trusting the process... she’s been doing everything right 🙌🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
but if her and i had only judged her progress through the number on the scale, we’d be upset at the “lack of progress”. it would mean that either my plan for her was flawed or that she wasn’t executing... but neither is true!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
because the 👏🏼 scale 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 liar 👏🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
or at least it only tells part of the story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
in a f*t loss phase, it’s one of many tools we can use to measure progress, and it certainly doesn’t measure your self worth, happiness, or hard work 🙅🏼‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
here are some other ways myself and my clients keep track of progress, no matter what the goal might be:
- measurements
- photos
- how clothes fit
- strength
- energy
- sleep quality
- healthy habits
- confidence / self-love
- clear skin
- digestion
and so many more that you don’t even have to use the scale at all!

ladies, please don’t place so much importance on the scale. it’s simply an objective number that can’t possibly tell the whole story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
you are more than a number and deserve to feel happy, healthy, and confident no matter what you weigh 🦄✨

take it from a girl who’s the most confident she’s ever been and weighs the most she’s ever weighed 😉

Let’s talk food rules 📝🍴
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the first few years of my fitness journey, i thought that more rules = more progress and boyyyy was i wrong 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
eventually i realized that more rules actually means:
- more restriction
- more deprivation
- more resentment
- more cravings
- more confusion
- more failing
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
because when you keep building more and more rules, you eventually find yourself in a prison that you put yourself in 😩 all in the name of #goals ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
clearly i’m not a fan of rules anymore... but i do think that a couple strategic guidelines can go a long way for consistency and (flexible) structure 🤓

turns out, that actually yields better results, because you can finally achieve this magical thing called *consistency* ✨

The bts of a 6-figure biz 💸💰

hi yes that’s my biz i’m talking about 👋🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
which is incredible and i’m so grateful 🙏🏻 but here in instagramland, i think entrepreneurship is super glamorized, and people assume that if they’re struggling, they must be doing something wrong. not true👊🏼 let’s bring back some realness, k?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
what you see:
- i drive a nice car (still so in love with her)
- i live in a nice apartment
- i work from home and make my own schedule
- i travel quite a bit, often to cool locations
- i give back and try to be generous with my money
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
in general, i live very comfortably and have a great life ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
what you don’t see:
- my biz making 6 figures ≠ me making 6 figures
- i worked on my brand / social following for 3 years before i made any money off of it, then multiple more years before it could be my career
- i often work 10-12 hr days in my high school sweatpants and no bra #soglam - 90% of my time is spent sitting at my computer, not adventuring
- even when i’m adventuring, i’m usually also working
- bookkeeping, taxes, and legal stuff still makes me incredibly anxious
- i’m constantly questioning myself and the fear gremlins are real 👹
- i struggle to take time off / “relax” because i know i could be doing more
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and none of that is to say that i would choose anything else. i love what i do and i’ve grown so much through entrepreneurship... but it’s also hard af and really tests you at times.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
instagram makes it seem like people end up on yachts and in sports cars without even trying...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
trust me, it’s really freaking hard to make your dreams a reality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
but good things come to those who work ✊🏼 so if you’re just starting out or haven’t gotten that mystical 6-figure mark... don’t compare your bts to someone else’s highlight real. girl, we are all riding the struggle bus together 👋🏼🚌 *beep beep*

long story short, ❤️, 👉⤵️ :
1️⃣ hip t****t ladder 15-10-5-20 (watch my highlights)
2️⃣ back squats 3x10
3️⃣ stiffed leg deadlifts 3x8 (nb: the less the rep range - the heavier the weights)
4️⃣ single leg hamstring curls 3x15 (due to absence of special machine in my gym, i used leg extension machine)
5️⃣ & 6️⃣ glute kickbacks variations - 2x20 (again, use what you have or where u feel your muscles better. but note, you hit the muscles in a bit different angles in those. i prefer the cables. kneeling position get your in a better range of motion). after doing kickbacks on cables, imagine drawing the circle with your leg. for extra burn 🧨

there are several yoga poses that really work to help open the chest, relieving tension in the neck and shoulders. one the most challenging poses for me, is dolphin pose. i don’t practice this pose because i like it; i practice because i need it 🙏🏻.

🍑 glute warm-up or finisher🍑
superset i’d do at the beginning or at the end of leg/glute focused day. i don’t go without pre-exhausting desired muscles before main training. it will fire them up and when hitting weights with a right form it will activate them way faster and easier. or if you do them at the end, it will make blood flowing even more to the muscles and will give you great pump.

There are seasons to life, and as this year is coming to a close, i’m feeling this natural push to tie up loose ends & form new beginnings for the upcoming year 👇🏼

i’m not sure where this push is coming from, but it almost feels like an effortless movement rather than a forceful push. it truly feels as if i am stepping into the next season of my life, and after a year of crazy, i’m deciding who i want to be on the other side of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
we cannot control the things that happen to us, but we can always control how we perceive and the stories we tell ourselves about life’s events. in truth, this year has left me more emotional than i have ever been. it’s implanted more fear in me than ever before. but, in times where i thought i lost all hope, and ultimately felt like i had lost myself, i continued to persevere. i kept my eye on who i wanted to be and at times felt like i had to crawl through the heavy storm. but... all that said, i freakin did it.

and no, i’m not totally out of it yet.. but, i’m 1,000 miles farther than i thought i would be by now. and taking a second to be proud of how far we have come is everything in the journey 🙏🏼

if you’re struggling right now, i see you and i feel you. but know that everything is temporary, and try to find some relief in that. as for me, i’m making sure to use this year to my advantage and as a coach, the more life experience the better, am i right 😜✨

As you may have seen from my stories, we recently harvested a bunch of @farmshelf thai basil. so in an effort to use every bit, i’ve been chopping it up and tossing it into almost everything i make - herbs can be so versatile; i love how they add a pop of flavor to dishes you wouldn’t ordinarily think to add specialty herbs like thai basil to.

this is avocado “toast” with sweet potato fritters instead of bread! the fritters are just grated sweet potato (squeeze out in a hand towel to drain any liquid) mixed with an egg and almond flour. brown the mix in a pan with olive oil and then top with avocado, salt & pepp, caramelized onions, a 6 1/2 minute egg, and of course, that beautiful thai basil✌🏼🔥

what does this mean to you? have you ever played a sport? have you or someone you love ever had to give up something you’ve loved because of injury? because it was time to turn a page into a chapter in your life?

for many people, myself included, when you spend years and years dedicating your life to your craft, it can be very tough to figure out who you are outside of that sporting context. whether you retired willingly, had to stop due to an injury, graduated from school, or gave up sports under other circumstances, forming a new identity not centred around sports can be very emotionally and psychologically draining. the athlete identity is one that can be so engrained in what, how, and why you do what you do - in sports, relationships, work, and in life. it’s often how people know you, where you met your closest friends, where you experienced your highest of highs and lowest of lows, and what people know you for best. it’s not easy, and forging a new identity as an adult can be tricky, but it’s possible to use those tools and skills developped as an athlete and put them to use in other aspects of your life. 💪🏼 ______________________________________________
