Articulation & the health of your spine is key. it’s important to work and mobilise the different levels from the lumbar (lower back) up to the thoracic which encompasses the shoulders & chest area & the cervical part of your spine which extends up the neck to the base of the skull. the different levels of the spine have different functions - the thoracic is built for rotation, flexion & extension whilst the lumbar spine is built for stability. core work is key but that’s not enough to keep your back strong, mobile & healthy. mobilising and space between the vertebrae will keep you young, your vital organs healthy to function properly especially the lungs and to keep you mobile through life! as joseph pilates said ‘you are only as young as your spinal column’ & ‘if your spine is stiff at 30 you are old, and if it’s flexible at 60 you are young’ 🙏🏼❤️ swipe across for another interesting fact! 👌🏼 mobilise that spine! 👌🏼 #tuesdaytip
Friyay! starting the day off right with a visit to my chiro @capetownchiro
whilst i initially sought chiropractic care to deal with a yoga injury, i am learning so much more about the mechanics of the human body. this came at the perfect time where i was hungry for more knowledge that would allow me to tune into my students' bodies' on the mat. always super amped for each appointment where i get to pick my chiro's brain on the mind-blowing intricacies of the nervous system's ability to adapt to the body's constant demands. most importantly i love that the vitalistic approach to chiropractic care is the notion that we seek wellness not simply as temporary relief from illness, but rather to lay the way for reaching our maximum potential. your health is a culmination of all of your life's choices up to the present moment - choose wisely!
