With trekking season in nepal opening back up again this month, seeing everyone’s posts from their first days on the circuit has me thinking back to our first days. it seems unreal that it was only six months ago, in that i can’t believe how fast half a year can go and also in that so much has changed and happened since then. on day one, we only walked for 3 hours and i was spent, my shoulders searing with pain. i couldn’t have known then that i would later end up walking 9-hour days, that i would get good at it, that i would feel the extra muscle on me like a welcome friend. but this photo is from that first day. that first really hard day. the morning of, filled with giddiness, we took a 6 hr ride on a bus stuffed full with trekkers from all around the world carrying big backpacks and their nerves, all of us unsure if we’d actually finish it, if our bodies would let us go that far, but really stoked to be able to attempt it nonetheless.
